Can anyone please recommend an eye-make up remover that actually takes off waterproof mascara?

I'm currently using a Lancôme mascara and I can't get it off!

This stuff is amazing.

I think home bargains do it, Amazon do it, not sure about boots.

The garnier micellar water that is half water/half oil. you have to shake before you use it but it gets waterproof mascara off no problem

HalfpastFlea · 13/11/2021 10:18

The nivea double effect one is brilliant, it's like a dupe of Cliniques TTDO.

SpeckledyHen · 13/11/2021 13:51

Nivea double effect is brilliant and often on half price deals too.

Liz Earle Cleanse and Polish is excellent at removing all eye make up, as well as all other make up!

Sainsburys my skin matters is great

SummaLuvin · 13/11/2021 15:56

You want something oil based, waterproof mascara will be resistant to water based removers. A cleansing balm or oil massaged (gently) into the lashes should break it down nicely. Cleanse and Polish recommend above is a good example of this, in my opinion you don’t need a specific eye make up remover, just use a little extra cleaning balm/oil that you would use on the rest of your face and take a bit of time working in into the eye area.

I like Nivea double effect, or L’Oréal age perfect wipes

JellyTots2009 · 13/11/2021 16:11

Nivea double effect. Took off mascara that seemed painted on with ease. I'll buy nothing else!

This is the best, I've tried them all!

Body shop chamomile cleansing butter
Small blob warm in fingers rub over eyes. Off with warm cloth.
Just don't get it in your eyes. You could say that about all these thugs though

RedLipsAndRosyCheeks · 13/11/2021 16:16

Solid cocoa butter is great. It doesn't hurt if it eyes in your eyes either.

ShirleyBadass · 13/11/2021 16:19

Elemis, Bodyshop or Beauty Pie balms all work really well.

morticiamarkle · 13/11/2021 16:21

Another vote for the layered Nivea one here. I only wear waterproof mascara and it gets it all off.

As per other posts it might be a balm. In a flat tin.
Etonmessisyum · 13/11/2021 16:23

I have 2
Nivea one as mentioned above and an Estée Lauder balm the balm is nice if my skin feels tight or irritated although I can’t find it just now so the nivea one is being used a lot. Must look for it, recently moved and can’t find some of my stuff

letsfightlikechickens · 13/11/2021 16:31

Balms are rubbish for removing mascara, it gets on your eye and makes your vision blurry for a while.

Bi-phase is definitely my preferred way

Pbbananabagel · 13/11/2021 16:37

Another vote for cocoa butter, almond or olive oil also great and good for your skin too. Just use water water on cotton wool or a cloth after and pat dry.

Pbbananabagel · 13/11/2021 16:38

Warm water*

LyraSilvertongueBelacqua · 13/11/2021 17:32

Lots of options, thank you!

I currently have an oil based one that says it removes waterproof but it definitely doesn't.

I have balms but I don't like them for eye-make up removal and they irritate my eyes, though they do work!

To add, I loved the my skin one from Sainsbury's too - but then they changed the formulation (it was purple and now it's blue) and it irritates my eyes. Why do they always change something that was fine?!

Agree the Nivea Double Effect is very good, I also use Lancôme waterproof mascara and it works a treat.

Rhythmisadancer · 13/11/2021 17:41

I try to remember to buy posher eye makeup remover, but nothing does it any better than a blob of vaseline and cotton wool

Inthesameboatatmo · 13/11/2021 20:54

Simple cleansing oil is good .

1vandal2 · 13/11/2021 23:11

The new blue msm eye remover i found when i have less on the cotton pad i don't get the eye irritation. I had the same thing with the purple one when i put too much on.
