What shoes to wear with wide legged jeans?

I bought some lovely wide-legged jeans from Mango (following a recommendation on another thread) but I'm struggling to work out what to wear on my feet... My other wide jeans are quite short, so boots and trainers look good but these ones are long. I love them so much but everything I think about wearing with them make me think of 90s me, in my bedraggled, puddle-soaked flares. Any ideas?

Flat form brogues, ideally with enough of a lift so the trousers don't puddle round your ankles. I think you need a chunky shoe with wide leg trousers and boots only work with cropped length.

I remember clubbing with my flatmates in the 1990s in wide leg jeans and trainers. We’d come home with the hems all beery.

Yes @GreenClock! Exactly this. Being pretty short though, it was the lower 1/5th of my jeans that had wicked up whatever it was I'd been standing in (which was actual human shit when I once went to a rave in King's Cross 🤮).
