Hair product help needed!

I’m looking for a styling product to use with a curling wand to give the waves good hold.

I’m not keen on mousse or traditional hairspray (think Silvikrin etc).

Not sure whether I need to apply a product before I curl my hair or after or both.
Would like the curls/waves to hold for as long as possible!
I’ve got mid length hair.

You can add too much product which will weigh your hair down. Salt sprays can work too but don't apply to your roots

I am a bit dense when it comes to hair and beauty so......

Because I’ll be curling my hair after it’s been rough dried, will that third product still work on dry hair?

The sprays are for after I’ve curled my hair?
