Back in the mists of time...I had this in an oblong bottle, the water was oddly brown coloured.

I gather it was discontinued...does anyone know of a dupe?

Thanks.

Sadly no. You can still pick up vintage bottles from Ebay if you're lucky. I paid about £20 for one that's 60% full.

Thank you I can't see a bottle that looks familiar, though the packaging might have changed since I had it.

If you're talking about the 1987ish one, rectangle bottle with fabric style effect lighter blue on the box, no, it was never afaik repackaged. They just didn't make it for very long.

Thank you
This would have been 2000s

It was oblong, like tall oblong so that way up
There was a pink one that was the lighter, fresher version.

Maybe I've misrememberd the name and it was Gucci Something Else?

No, you're probably right. There was a later (completely different) perfume with the same name. (madness)

Ooh I found it
So if anyone has a smell alike suggestion please let me know.

There's a few bottles on ebay if you're prepared to pay a bit.

DaisyNGO · 11/11/2021 17:02

no, I was looking for a copy! I wouldn't pay that for perfume - it's paying for a memory really I think.

it's quite a woody scent, it must be replicated somewhere, I just need to find out where.

Go onto Fragrantica.Com, click on the menu, look for ‘perfume finder’ and type the Gucci one. It’ll bring up scents that are not the same but appeal to the lovers of the entered perfume.
DaisyNGO · 11/11/2021 17:11

Yellow Sorry, perhaps I should have said that
very surprised by most of the suggestions though of course I don't know them all, lol

maybe I'll start a search for woody fragrances in men's as I have a feeling it's more likely to be found there.

thanks all.

Oh my goodness, such a flashback! One of my friends at Uni wore Eau de Gucci - it was 1990 and the blue print box. She used to smell so gorgeous. I could never find it. Looks like it was a limited edition type of release.
I’m afraid I don’t remember the 2000 one at all.

DaisyNGO · 11/11/2021 18:42

JM maybe they're the same and the packaging was changed?

Best perfume ever. I still mourn it. Nothing compares.

I got a free sample of it with a magazine when I was about 14 and I was hooked.

I’ve had my fair share of vintage bottles off eBay over the years.

One of the Gucci Blooms is really very close. I think the Profumo do Fiori one.

NadiaVulvokov · 11/11/2021 21:35

First packaging I knew it was was dark blue with Gucci g print in lighter blue and a snaffle in the signature green tan and red. Oval bottle with a dark blue lid.

Second packaging was light pink and the perfume was also tinted pink. Bottle had vertical grooves and a gold cap.

IIRC.

DaisyNGO · 11/11/2021 21:44

It's nice to know I'm not the only one....my best friend really misses it too!

The Gucci Bloom Profumo do Fiori is really worth a try though. Very similar.

DaisyNGO · 13/11/2021 20:50

Thanks Nadia
What do posters think about oud based fragrances, any similarities?

Boots don't seem to do their library of fragrance anymore, or at least I get a sort of "not found" page.

@Lalalablahblahblah

No sorry I don't think Gucci edp smells of oud at all. To me it's more sort of powdery, slightly dirty white floral. Sexy (although I accept my description sounded anything but!)
I don't know what oud is like, just I was reading up on perfumes amd thought there might be a similarity.

Good word, oud, as Miranda would say. Like, ooooooood.

I love the Noble Isle toiletries, I'm surprised they don't make scent.

My Mum used to wear Eau de Gucci and I loved it and used to go and douse myself in it before school, would love if they brought it back as nothing smells like it, but I might try the suggested one up thread.
