Christmas Party Outfit Sz 16

DH works Christmas party is at the end of this month, in a marquee (hard floor) with the only dress code being “a hint of Christmas”. It’s rural rather than City.
I’ve recently (a few months ago) had a baby so am a very pot bellied size 16, low in confidence. Someone congratulated me on my pregnancy so soon after my baby last week Sad I don’t want to be an embarrassment as used to be a slim, busty size 12 hourglass. My DH says something smart/casual and not to overdress but I know a couple of the other wives are more on the glam side. I’m usually spoilt for choice with outfits but I’m in a rut.
It needs to be warm, preferably mid or long sleeved, and be worn with black heeled ankle boots or grey knee highs. I’m more conservative in style. Elegant rather than quirky. Think Holly W, or the beautiful Duchess of Cambridge but think her style would look a bit grumpy on anyone a bit bigger. I looked at this jumpsuit www.oliverbonas.com/fashion/leopard-jacquard-black-tie-waist-jumpsuit-321588 but it’s not in my size and I don’t know what footwear would go either.
Please help, I need a boost so I feel less mumsy just for one night without being overdressed.

What’s your colouring OP? I love wearing red at Xmas, it’s a festive colour without being too obviously christmassy. How about a red blouse over a pair of black velvet trousers/leggings and your ankle boots? Maybe with some nice gold earrings and a black long handled bag?

Or maybe a sequin long sleeve top and black trousers? Christmassy but classy. I would think people would dress up a bit more as it’s a good excuse to do so after last year so don’t worry about being overdressed for a Xmas party!

This is gorgeous and nods towards the Christmas tree, if you want it more festive ,the works have Christmas light earrings and necklaces for £2.

I like all of these ideas thank you. I’m making a rare trip into the city this weekend so will have a look at the high street buys while I’m there.
I think I just need to enjoy Christmas then get myself sorted out in the new year. I’m a firm believer in you can wear anything if you wear it with confidence and I don’t think I’m comfortable with the new me, not my size necessarily but my shape and tone.
Thanks for the inspiration Smile

Do you have time to get to a shopping centre/retail park take a couple of hours out to go and have a browse. That’s my plan anyways

M&S had some nice velvet leggings and subtle shimmery ones. They would look good with a smart jumper or if you got the velvet leggings, a sparkly top

There’s also a really lovely green long wool dress with a pleated skirt, which is quite fitted on monsoon

I'm currently a 'curvy' size 14/16 and going to our posh Christmas work party at a hotel.
Mostly the women wear cocktail dresses, bodycon dresses or long dresses but the men (most of them surgeons actually) rarely make as much effort and some even wear jumpers & (smart) jeans!

So as I'm feeling fat I won't wear a dress.

I've got a black deep v neck sparkly top with ruching over the tummy area originally from the Wallis shop (now they're only online).
I've ordered a pair of coated black short straight leg jeans from Next that will show off my white & gold studded heels from River Island.
I ordered a chunky gold plated chain from Orelia London to go with a gold bracelet, gold watch & gold earrings.
Finally got a black & gold sparkly Accessorize clutch.

I can't even drink alcohol to relax (due to meds) so I need to have an outfit that will make me feel confident & happy in myself,
I think that the outfit I've chosen will do that.

Hope that you find something that you are happy with too OP and enjoy your Christmas party!

I'm in a very similar situation. I hate buying occasion dresses as they easily become single-wear items. I was looking at a few jumpsuits from Thought, and maybe accessorizing with a big funky earrings or necklace for a festive spark.

Actually this would be lovely - velvet is very Christmassy but black will hide a few bumps.
