Hello. I am petite in height and frame and with pale skin , red tones hair.
Every year I struggle.to get boots and end up.wasting money and I.would really appriciate advice on what.style.,or styles of boot if i need to get more than one pair.
My style is quite indi with a nod to.vintage.. vintage frocks, shift dresses, 1950 high waisted rockabily jeans, dungarees.
I have tried
Pull on chealse.boots
Toast ( like docs) oxblood.boots
V good quality flat.boots with brouge.detailing
Calf.lenght zip up docs in black and oxblood.
Purple docs( hated them.. felt was trying.too hard, all attention on boot)

I.do.not like boots with buckles,heels.,biker.styke and i.dint like.black boots.
If i wear coloured boots rheee is too much going.on as i am.only 5 ft.

I wd live in converse.if warm in winter.
I wear them all.the time.

I.need to find a boot.or boots that are flat and as i wear often quite colurful outfits, one that just blends in but does not shout .
Ive looked for ages.
The only boots I can even consider are
Dessert boots from clarkes. ( what colour?) As they are classic and perhaps slightlt retro in vibe ? Means wet feet as suede.
Or oxblood docs .( seen some with black fake fur lined).
Thw latter wd not go with my 50s style frocks i assume.? However, fine with jeans, dungarees, shift dresses.?

Any thoughts or suggestions please.? Dh thinks black dms wd be good. ? I never wear.black but do wear navy .. are black docs a neutral? Are they too harsh for a pale 50.year.old or am.I better.with oxblood.

Views on both types.of boot most appricated as well as altwenatives and cololur.
Also ,black tights do not.suit.me . The lady in the docs shop suggested.fishnets amd socks..??? I have no idea.about tights with boots either ?!!!! .thank s !

Hi OP

We're moving this over to style and beauty for you now. Flowers

CandidaAlbicans2 · 11/11/2021 10:07

Hey OP, I've reported your post and asked for it to be moved to S&B for you.
RE boots, how about El Naturalista or Fly?

KirstenBlest · 11/11/2021 13:20

You could get navy DMs, or brown. I have the toast jade boots in burgundy and the derby boots from solovair. They are like better quality DMs

I wear lots of dungarees, pinafores, mini & midi skirts, jeans etc.

KirstenBlest · 11/11/2021 13:24

Here's a link
They do lots of colours but go for black or navy if you don't want the boots to be too striking.

I get lots of compliments on the burgundy toast jade boots, so I guess they are noticeable

Sooverthemill · 11/11/2021 14:14

these are nice. Camper have lots of good styles at the moment too

KirstenBlest · 11/11/2021 17:56

I have those @Sooverthemill, and yes, they're nice.
I would probably compromise and get the astronaut boot or if you want navy the dealer boots

I find lace up boots more comfortable

Camper do have some nice boots, as do Fly London

What about the Superga Alpina range? www.superga.co.uk/alpina?sortby=best-selling Faux leather not real, but some of the prints could work for you, an interesting neutral and quite trainer-like!

Westnsouthnabout · 11/11/2021 23:24

Thanks all.will have a good look

Am thinking of thw classic solovair boots. Luke docs but without the yellow stitching which slightly freakes me out visually!!
With red hair and pale skin, which wd be a netutral and def( at £ 200) one that does not date in the 8 eye derby boot ?
Burgandy or ox blood ? Thank s!!

OP posts:
KirstenBlest · 12/11/2021 18:00

They're not £200, they're about £170, and should last for years
I have the 8-hole in black, but I should have got the Astronaut.

The burgundy is lovely, so my recommendation is the astronaut in burgundy rub-off. The style is still DM-like but slightly more elegant, and I prefer the shorter leg length

I'm not getting them because I have the burgundy rub-off Jades from toast, which are the same but have the top two eyelets replaced by hooks.

They take less breaking in than DMs and are better quality.
I bought mine second hand. The sizing is weird - I went down a size.
I'm not connected with the company in any way.

Westnsouthnabout · 13/11/2021 15:22

Thanks. ! Yes i got the onws fro. Toast which u describe but as i am a size 4 i cdnt size down as they donr have size 3s ( the 4 s were like boats!) Solovair you can measure yr foot and get size to fit inc half sizes so that is fab .
