Just that really, faux leather trousers, over the knee boots, very interested to hear people’s opinions, as I actually think you can still look nice mid sixties wearing faux leather trousers as long as slim and minimal make up, not so sure with the over the knee boots though I think they are more for the younger ones

I wear leather look leggings all the time. During the day I wear with a sweatshirt or chunky jumper and trainers or DM style boots and in the evening with heels ankle boots, a cami and a blazer. I’m late 40’s

MeredithGreyishblue · 10/11/2021 21:43

There's no such thing as too old for anything.

Iveputmyselfonthenaughtystep · 10/11/2021 21:48

I saw a 50 something wearing high bunches in her hair the other day. 50 something was definitely too old, but then I think any age with double digits is probably too old for bunches unless you're in fancy dress.
Other than that I say wear what suits your body type and personality and fuck 'rules'.

Thepennysjustdropped · 10/11/2021 21:50

I'm with Meredith. You can make anything work if you do it with confidence. I think looking after yourself (as in eating healthily, exercising and having interests) and being the best version of yourself create confidence.

maddy68 · 10/11/2021 21:51

It depends on height and shape I think.

I kind of want to agree with you.I am not so sure about the so called street wear on a 70 year oldHmm
NotImpossible · 10/11/2021 21:54

I don't like the look of either item but I would not say age factors into that. I wouldn't look twice at an older person wearing them - tbh I might find them slightly more remarkable/unexpected on a very young person - I'm not sure why!

whatisthisinhere · 10/11/2021 23:04

As long as you like them, wear them. I'm in my 50s, and wear both. My boots are just on my knee though, Stuart Weizmann 50/50 boots, which I love. And I wear leather look leggings, leather leggings, leather trousers and around 4 leather skirts, plus a suede midi skirt. I'm not very thin, I am fit and muscular though.

Craftycorvid · 10/11/2021 23:07

I don’t hold with ‘age-appropriate’ anything. I must admit to thinking leather-look leggings are a bad look on anyone, though.

whatisthisinhere · 10/11/2021 23:09

You see, I've never seen anyone look bad in leather leggings

fantasmasgoria1 · 10/11/2021 23:15

Age has no boundaries. You wear what you want to.

Crunched · 10/11/2021 23:18

I agree whatisthisinhere, and I think they can look stylish on plus sizes.

DramaAlpaca · 10/11/2021 23:18

Wear what you want if it makes you feel good. I'm 57 and I rock my leather look leggings. I don't have any over the knee boots because I don't like them much, but there's no age barrier to wearing them if you do.

HelloBunny · 10/11/2021 23:22

I think it depends on your individual style, not age really... I’ve never worn, or even looked at leather trousers / faux leather leggings / those shiny leggings. Whereas my friend, who’s 50 has several pairs @ looks great in them. She wouldn’t touch the floral tea dresses that I favour!

CarrotSticks19 · 10/11/2021 23:24

When your no longer flexible enough to get in them!

Theres no age limit on any item of clothing, we dont have to start dressing as a stereotype of our age.

Floisme · 10/11/2021 23:26

It's very simple. The day I stop wearing something is the day I realise it no longer gives me any pleasure.

I'm the one who decides.

I recommend it.

HelloBunny · 10/11/2021 23:27

Although I do think that regularly updating your wardrobe is a good idea. Not the latest fashions, or trying to keep up with the younger crowd. But, to move on from the styles of your youth.
I have a friend who still has the figure she had in her 20s. And the same clothes from the Noughties. They just don’t look right on her now. She’s not a cool surfer chick in Oz anymore!

CambsAlways · 11/11/2021 05:52

Thanks everyone, my
Motto is if you have the figure and the confidence and you should go for it, I think mutton dressed as lamb only comes into it if you look ridiculous and trying too hard. eg, loads of jewellery make up , I’m thinking more Lulu and less lily savage

Over the knee boots are very dated to be honest and have had their day.

Leather trousers I think as long as a bit loose are better as legging style is also very dated. But why faux leather?? Actual leather would be much better

SarahBellam · 11/11/2021 06:32

Wear whatever you want whenever you want. Wear what makes you feel good. If high bunches made that 50 year old woman feel good then good for her. There's no need to waste a moment of your life thinking about whether anyone likes your outfit as long as you like it.

StarShapedWindow · 11/11/2021 06:36

I’m getting my mum the Toast pleather legging for Christmas, she’s 73 and has fantastic legs - she’ll look fab.

GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 11/11/2021 06:36

I don't think there's an age limit on anything, if it wearing it makes you feel good.

I wouldn't recommend wearing leather trousers and over the knee boots together, unless you're a highwayman.

Tiramiwho · 11/11/2021 06:46

"High bunches"? Are you American PP ?
I ask because I'm in my 50's and sometimes wear 'pigtails' so wondering if it was me Grin
( Low down the nape of my neck though 😇 )
I don't give a Monkey's cuss if other folks disapprove of my style choices, infact it never crosses my mind

ambereeree · 11/11/2021 07:04

I saw an older lady wearing two plaits and she looked very beautiful. Lady was mid 60s and hair was white not dyed.

Sittinginthesand · 11/11/2021 07:08

I think over the knee boots look awful on everyone, age is irrelevant. Unless you are playing Dick Whittington in a pantomime.
