Calling Doc Martens wearers - are there any that aren’t as heavy as bricks?

I’d love some DM ankle boots. I have joint problems, skin issues ,ankle instability and flat feet 😬. Are there any DM ankle boots that aren’t heavy and that might not need all the breaking in that I read about them needing?

The soft leather pascal ones don’t need breaking in but the soles are still heavy. I have lupus and can’t wear them for that reason. I used to love them as a teen.

Pascals are the softer ones, they’re not heavy either. I’ve had no problems as all, they’ve been really comfortable from the start. I hope you get some and love them as much as I do 😀

Thatsplentyjack · 10/11/2021 20:33

Yup I have the pascal and they are very comfortable. Didn't need breaking in at all and I don't think they feel heavy , but then they are my first pair so I've never worn the other styles for any length of time.
Why not ored some, wear them around the house for an hour and see how they feel?

Mackmama · 10/11/2021 20:33

Sorry, should have said, I don’t find them heavy, could you try some OP and see if they’re any good for you?

They are soft and comfortable, I have worn them almost every day since I bought them a few weeks ago. They did not need breaking in at all. They are my first pair of DMs , and I just love them!

DelphiniumBlue · 10/11/2021 20:34

I don't think they are heavy either, that would be an issue for me.

Bleue · 10/11/2021 21:11

Thanks that’s great. There’s a docs shop in town so I will start with the Pascals. I’m not holding out a great deal of hope as my feet and ankles make finding all footwear a nightmare but I’d really love some 🤞.

I have a pair of kids DMs which go up to a 5. If your feet are on the small side you might find them lighter and softer. Mine only needed a tiny bit of breaking in and now are the most comfortable footwear I own.

Onaloop · 10/11/2021 21:23

I wear DM Emmelines - they are lighter and without the yellow Stitching and have a lighter shape

Bleue · 10/11/2021 21:32

I take a 5 so could maybe manage the kids. When I’ve looked online I can only see up to size 1 or 2. The Emmelines sound good as I’d prefer ones without the yellow stitching if possible.

My dd is a 4 and has kids ones, they are much softer and lighter than ds size 9.

You need to move away from the traditional DMs. I like the Gayle style (there are lots of others too), pull on, no breaking in, study and comfy.
