I haven’t used Cult beauty before, what’s the bronze status? I’m trying to decide whether it’s worth putting my Recycleme funds into that or just get Look fantastic credit

It's their loyalty program. Bronze, silver and gold. If you're new to Cult Beauty then the points just go towards achieving your bronze status unless you choose the credit option that has to be spent within 30 days.

If you're not already at bronze then maybe a LF voucher is better.

Those T&Cs only apply from April 1st though so check the current ones on the app.

Thank you @OvaHere for moving us here from the other thread!

LiB latest edit is a Mumsnet box.
I must admit I haven't been too impressed with their edits since they changed the setup, not as interesting or exciting as they used to be and aimed too much at a TikTok / Instagram younger audience for my liking.
I really wanted to be impressed with this one but the only item I truly like is an Eve Lom lotion which is only 15ml. If it was full size I would have been more interested because the eye cream looks like a good one to try so, overall I'd have ordered it. None of the other items attract me at all.

I spotted that although I've not seen it promoted anywhere on Mumsnet.

I've not seen any LiB edits that have grabbed me so far. There's usually a couple of things that are okay but I need to really like at least 50% of a box to consider it.

MrsBnow12 · 06/03/2025 22:39

Thanks @OvaHere I am still a LF subscriber so got it for £51 but hopefully the code works for others.

was anyone tempted by the Bridal Beauty Mothers Day box?

OvaHere · 06/03/2025 23:14

Me too @MrsBnow12 I also had a £5 credit voucher which brought it down further.

The baked highlighter is the only thing I probably won't use, I like a bit of highlight but that looks a bit too disco for my taste. So that will go on Vinted.

I wasn't planning to buy the GB egg but I put it in the basket to see if the discount code worked and they gave me the full subscriber discount making it only £30 - I cancelled my GB subscription in December.

Hopefully that will continue to be a thing because their edits tend to be a bit better than the boxes.

So now I have two eggs unless GB cancel the order.😳

Growlybear83 · 07/03/2025 04:00

@MrsBnow12 I must admit the Bridal Beauty Mother's Day box fell into my basket. It arrived really quickly. Once again, it was quite underwhelming, and most of the contents will be going on Vinted. It's a shame because their mystery boxes were such good value when I first got them.

MrsBnow12 · 07/03/2025 06:07

@Growlybear83 I went down the slippery slope of ordering a Luxe Mothers Day one from them, I received an email and link on the Thursday and resisted until insomnia struck at around 2am.
Would you mind (and if you still have them to hand) let me know what was in the regular box.

Branster · 07/03/2025 08:24

@MrsBnow12 no idea why but I ordered the regular Mother's Day BBC box. I think because I ordered it before and really liked it in the past plus I actually wanted to open something and they had a free gift offer on instagram.
It arrived really quickly and it had:

2 Aromatherapy Associates bath oils minis (will use and like the brand)

Senn lip serum in a darker shade (I already have a couple from older LiB orders and are OK to use but nothing spectacular)

Jurlique moisturising mask a good size tube 100ml and I'll be definitely using it, I love a face mask

Narciso Rodriguez 10ml musc rose something perfume, so good size for a mini but will be gifting because I'm not keen on this brand

A big bottle of the gel bottle h2o cream, this was the free gift, never heard of the brand but will be using because I always use body lotions and can't remember last time I had to buy any, they all seem to come from beauty edits.

Trinny Lindon lip2cheek in Pia, it looks like a coral shade, not interested because I don't like the brand, don't like the colour, don't like this concept of a pot, I don't use blusher and don't need another lip product so I'll be gifting it

A dr Hauschka cleanser small tube, have quite a few of these I use when travelling but I would never go out and buy it, it does the job but not an amazing cleanser as such

Votary light moisturiser, I looked it up and it's £75 at full price. I will use it for the curiosity factor but at that rrp I'd expect a label that was stuck on neatly to the glass jar. I can't imagine I'd ever buy from this brand. I had qui a few products through various beauty boxes and, for the price, I didn't find them extraordinary in any way. Saying that, they are gentle and don't harm my skin.

A small tube of Legology Air Light, no idea what is this supposed to do, I already have quite a few bigger tubes I still haven't used, I'll just assume they are body lotion so they will get used eventually.

I think that was everything, I can't remember anything else from there and I've put them all away last night.

Actually not a bad mix and don't regret buying it.

Branster · 07/03/2025 08:38

There was also a Philip Kingsley elasticizer in there, small tube. I forgot to add to the list.

Doubleraspberry · 07/03/2025 08:39

Of course there was! What are we without an Elasticiser?

Branster · 07/03/2025 09:10

@Doubleraspberry 😂 exactly! Does anyone ever buy this product in a shop or from a website? Or that Bum Bum cream? They probably only trade via eBay/Vinted.

MrsBnow12 · 07/03/2025 09:17

@Branster Thank you very much for the details, the box I ordered was £130 so was surprised when the regular one was £35 hence very interested to see what was in it compared to mine.
I will post later once it has been delivered and detail the contents.
That perfume was in the Valentines box and to be fair I like it so would be very happy to get another one.
@OvaHere I also has a £5 voucher so seemed a bargain at £45, I too will be selling in the highlighter and probably the mascara as I prefer tubing ones and don’t think this one is.

Branster · 07/03/2025 09:40

Yes please @MrsBnow12 I'd love to know what you receive. I think it should be a good edit.
The bigger £130 box is meant to have a value of £700 and I think you get free postage at that spend.
Whereas the standard £35 (well £40 with the £5 postage charge) box value is meant to be £250.
I was very tempted to go with the big one but I'm still trying to be sensible and not spend too much, and am still cautious of BBC.

The Boots box was interesting to me (thank you for the PP who mentioned it the other week, apologies I can't remember who it was). I did try to have a better look and nearly convinced myself to place an order, but their app and website are equally pants that I gave up in the end. Thinking about our local small Boots has been abysmal since the pandemic and even the bigger one in the nearest town is so dire that I started disliking them a lot. It's a shame because the really big Boots stores are still good and I used to order a lot from them. The experience is so bad nowadays that I simply don't have the patience. I'd go in to grab plasters or toothpaste in an emergency and that's about it. Also, I think it was sometime last year, one of their £10 Tuesday emails had these offers on sex toys and I really didn't like seeing that on opening the email when I was expecting offers on skincare or multivitamins. It's not like I could have avoided and not see it. I don't like this sort of in your face advertising and have no intention of getting with the times on this. I haven't opened a Boots email since. Another one I need to sort out and remove myself from their list.

OvaHere · 07/03/2025 09:49

Also, I think it was sometime last year, one of their £10 Tuesday emails had these offers on sex toys and I really didn't like seeing that on opening the email when I was expecting offers on skincare or multivitamins.

This annoys me too. At least blur the photos, I don't really want to look at butt plugs at 8am.

OvaHere · 07/03/2025 09:53

From what I've seen of the BB boxes the expensive ones seem to have a better range of products. I'm not sure if I'll every buy again - I'm a bit soured on mystery stuff after BB and then Roka. If I did it might be better value to buy the occasional large box than the smaller £30 level ones.

Growlybear83 · 07/03/2025 10:06

@MrsBnow12 I got exactly the same as Branster in my box, except I didn't get the h2o cream. I looked up the price of things online and was disappointed with the overall value. I didn't see the more expensive box so I'll be interested to hear what you get. I think the more expensive boxes do tend to be better value for money but I think I'm cured of my BB addiction after this one!

Growlybear83 · 07/03/2025 10:10

I meant to say that I don't think the value of the box was anywhere near the £250 advertised, but I'm looking at the box as a donation to Breast Cancer Now, with a couple of products that I'll use as a bonus.

Doubleraspberry · 07/03/2025 10:10

I think a big issue I have with BB (and it's mine not theirs) is how many Jurlique products they include. I'd never heard of the brand before and it sounds really naff to me, like a pound shop version of a better brand. As I said, not their fault!

MentyB · 07/03/2025 10:39

I didn't see the luxe bbc box? Was it only offered to some people?

Branster · 07/03/2025 12:27

@Doubleraspberry Jurlique is a relatively new brand, and, to me, it is like a modern clarins without the Clarins level of investment, results and heritage. All plants and herbs. Like what would Clarins look like if Food Market was to manufacture it: all American and botanical, wholesome organic free range, free from, recycled packaging expensive lifestyle.
I don't actually know much about the background, but I used some of their products before I discovered BBC and liked them because they are gentle and have this wholesome feel about them. Totally overpriced though. Like 99% of skincare really. Olay levels of performance I think but without the risk of skin reactions.

@OvaHere I'm pleased to hear there's at least one other sane person on this planet who doesn't need nonsense advertising pushed on them.
It's all well and good signing up or agreeing to receive marketing emails, but there is some responsibility there. It is like opening a virtual door into my house. In this case, my eyes. The expectation is to receive sensible serious emails.
