The quest for boots - help!!

I hate shoe shopping. I live in trainers all summer/spring/autumn, but I need some boots for winter.

I like wearing skirts and dresses, so they have to work with tights. I have very narrow ankles, so anything which is too gapey looks like I'm wearing wellies. I also don't have particularly long legs, so ankle boots can chop my legs off too much.

I'm trying to find something which is sensible (I want to be able to walk/stand in them) and comfortable (will keep my feet warm), but I don't want them to be frumpy.

I don't like block heels. They don't need to be flat as a pancake, but flat-ish (maybe a small wedge).

Am I looking for the impossible?! I've looked at Hush Puppies, Clarks (don't know why - they never fit), Fly London (all too chunky), Dune (too many high heels), Charles Clinkard (a couple of possibilities, but maybe too boring/frumpy) - where on earth do people look for boots these days?

Any and all suggestions gratefully considered!

I keep coming back to these as a boot/trainer hybrid

Get country boots if you want warmth and comfort!

I have these from Clarks. They were very, very tight for the first day or two but loosen off great. I have narrow ankles and these are fantastic! www.clarks.co.uk/c/Orinoco2-Stud/p/26161697

Country boots? That conjures up images of glorified/leather wellies!

Warmth is more about having a decent sole (so there's something between my feet and the cold/wet ground) rather than having my legs enclosed. I'd go as high as calf length, but no higher.

Those Clarks ones are definitely too chunky for me. Plus Clarks just don't fit my feet.

I bought these at the weekend and love them ! They look good with jeans. They are comfortable and did not break the bank

I can't wear lower than calf length! Cheaper than good wellies, more practical than heeled boots but only works if you do knee length so not your style. Good luck with the search, I hate shoe shopping!

Yes, those are perfectly nice!

Look for lace-up boots, maybe with an extra zip for higher than ankle height.

I have really skinny ankles and calves and I hate the flappy/welly feel of most boots.

I have these boots in black and brown, can wear them all day.
