Funeral outfit for a fatty

I’ve put on a lot of weight over lockdown and now have a great big tummy like Daddy Pig. It’s my mum’s funeral in ten days and I have bought this

sweatshirt dress in a 14 but I just don’t think it’s formal enough. Does anyone have any ideas for what would be flattering, formal (but not too formal!) and comfortable enough?

I have quite short legs too. I quite like the idea of a long pleated skirt - maybe like this

with some sort of jumpery top but worried that that would highlight my enormous tum.

Sorry about your Mum's passing OP Thanks the sweater dress you posted is absolutely fine. I would pair with black tights and black shoes / ankle boots. Hope the funeral goes as smoothly as possible and take care of yourself.

I would suggest maybe trousers and a top with some low heeled boots and a long coat/ jacket to hide your enormous tum?

So sorry about your loss Flowers

I think that dress is absolutely fine.
Also - it’s your parent that died. That makes you the person that has every right to dress how they feel comfortable for this funeral.

Sorry about your mum. I think the dress you have is good. With black tights and ankle boots. If you want something more formal this is lovely too. Maybe size up so it’s roomy at your tum x

I found this at John Lewis & Partners. What do you think?

That link didn’t seem to work. Here’s a pic instead x

The sweater dress is really lovely, and looks comfy as well as smart. Don't stress too much about your clothes, no one will look at you in that dress and think you haven't made an effort. I hope it goes as well as it can doThanks

Btw.. size 14 means you aren’t, technically, a “fatty” Smile

Thanks all for your input. Perhaps I am overthinking it. I think I’ll get me some of those control tights.
