What coat is your dh / oh wearing?

Looking for inspiration - dh needs a new coat & can't see anything he loves. Part of the problem is he has v unrealistic ideas of what the coat needs to be!

In his head it's a hybrid helle Hanson that also functions as a smart coat & I'm telling him he actually needs 2 coats in that case- 1 raincoat / anorak style & the other a smarter wool overcoat.

He works in a design industry - v similar aesthetic to an architect. He has a lovely Ted Baker navy cashmere bomber jacket short style but it's a few year old now & looking tired. And since spring he's been wearing a really lovely navy Paul Smith bomber jacket but he needs something warmer now

Can you recommend anything you've come across Or that your husbands/ partners are wearing ?

Thanks !

Mine wears a Barbour wax jacket or brown leather jacket most of the time

Mine is wearing the same black jacket he got from Tesco about 12 years ago!

To be fair it looks smart enough for nights out (not super smart obvs) and looks great considering how old it is, but it definitely needs replacing.

He can’t find anything he likes either though, so I have to put up with seeing him in the bloody thing.

Mine bought this one with a bit of persuasion

He tends to be a bit....casual. it looks really smart and the lining is lovely.

I’d say probably that’s two different jackets too. You can get smarter style parkas and warm coats but they’re never as smart as a more traditional style like a peacoat.

My DH has a couple of coats from Mackintosh, a classic Mac for rainy weather and a smart peacoat style:

He also wears a Helly Hansen for proper cold weather, and has a couple of more casual jackets for autumn/spring.

Agree that yours needs two coats!

NalPolishRemover · 06/11/2021 18:07

I totally agree he needs 2 coats!
I've been browsing online & I think a pea coat or a mid thigh single breasted crombie style would be good for the smart coat.

Some of the technical macs/ raincoat also look v good

He has 2 helle Hanson's already

My DH has had the same coat for the 14 years we've been together. I suspect the coat is a good few years older. It's from Aquasctum but they went under years ago.

What is it with men and their coats Grin

A Harrington type jacket, a green army type thing that he loves and I don't. When it gets proper cold he has a navy reefer type coat, he wears a navy beanie with it and has a big white beard, he looks like Capt. BirdsEye
