Per title, had help from the lady in the shop, but I know nothing about concealer, bronzer, etc. Please suggest some tutorial videos

If you list exactly what you bought we can target the suggestions.

Lisa Eldridge on YT has a nice mix of tutorials

Hoorayhenryyah · 06/11/2021 17:24

What did you get?! Love a new makeup haul

PiscesSt · 06/11/2021 17:35

I recommend Lisa Eldridge and Caroline Barnes. Both on youtube. They create classy looks rather than the Insta heavy makeup looks

OK, 3 fat brushes and 2 small ones. L'Oréal true match foundation in Rose Porcelain, Rimmel stay matte transparent powder, L'Oréal infaillable concealer in Ivory, L'Oréal bronze to paradise bronzer, NYX ultimate shadow palette in warm neutrals, Rimmel wonder extension mascara, Rimmel stay satin liquid lip colour kinda plummy pink colour and NYX micro brow pencil in Ash brown. Also L'Oréal shake & glow setting spray.

I told the assistant that I want easy peasy, just watched a video online and it looks awfully complicated! The assistant never gave me eyeliner or lip liner??? The last time I wore makeup was in my twenties, and it was just a bit of powder, mascara and lip gloss, mid 40s now. To make matters worse, I wear glasses and will be applying this half blind!! HELP!!!

Is she on commission from Nestle?!

Feedingthebirds1 · 06/11/2021 18:13

First stop - buy yourself a magnifying mirror. Doesn't need to be expensive, I got a really good one from Poundland the other day, but there's loads to choose from. And you can bring it up close rather than having a fixed dressing table mirror.

A bit too late now but if you want super simple make up then Trinny London is incredible, apply with fingers and takes under 5 minutes

cowskeepingmeupatnight · 06/11/2021 20:53

Well done on the NYX pencil in ash brown 👏 I buy this on repeat.

I would say go lightly. Blend well on the foundation. Don’t cake on the powder, just use it lightly where you need it. If you have hooded eyes (like I do) then check out a few YouTube tutorials. You might not need the setting spray for daily wear.

Thanks

I like watching Dominique Sachse’s make up videos.

I’m in a similar position but about a month ahead of you. I wfh but have been practicing makeup most days. I actually feel confident now with foundation and contouring. I’m focusing on eyes next but that’s a little trickier once I get past anything super simple.

Have fun with it!

Strictlydusting · 09/11/2021 06:56

My Top tip for eyes and lips is to match your natural skin colour. I use Mac Amber pallete using the lightest shades for my lid and brow bone and then add just a touch of shimmer to the lid. Lipstick is the same shade as my lips. This will give you a natural look - kind of you but better and is easy when you are in a rush. Camillecowher on TikTok has some good tutorials too.

Not sure if this will work but this was a great explanation on a simple look

GoingForAWalk · 09/11/2021 13:46

Use your fingers to start off with to apply foundation because a brush can have a different effect as can a sponge.

GoingForAWalk · 09/11/2021 13:48

There's a great make up artist called Andrea Ali who has excellent videos on applying make up

She does half her face properly and the other half showing the common errors we make on one video.

Purplecatshopaholic · 09/11/2021 14:03

Ooh, love a make up haul of new stuff! Some great points on here already op. Would also add to check out Gemma at Pampered Wolf on YouTube, she’s great.
Get practising and enjoy!
