Alternative to Babylis Big Hair

I’ve just had my hair cut from very long and wondered if there was a newer alternative to the Babyliss big hair dryer that I used to use several years ago. Thanks

I recently got the Amika one. It doesn’t rotate - I prefer this as I felt the BBH damaged my hair with the rotating/pulling it. The Amika one is a heated round brush so dries and smooths - my hair is so much smoother and softer with this than the BBH.

Revlon One Step, currently a third off at Boots. I hardly use my big hair one now, this is much better & quicker.

Another vote for Revlon One Step

The Revlon one step has genuinely changed how my hair looks.

Yes, Revlon One Step is brilliant. The only hair gadget I’ve bought (and I’ve bought a lot over the years Blush) which has really made a noticeable positive difference.

What does the Revlon One Step do, how is it different to the BBH and why is it better? I had a BBH for several until it started smelling of burning and then died. Would like to get a replacement.

@Littlemiss74 the Revlon One Step doesn’t rotate like the BBH does. It’s a hair-dryer & round brush in one, but it grips really well and doesn’t get tangled in your hair. I use a normal hair-dryer to get my hair 90% dry, then use the One Step to finish. It looks as good as when I’ve had it professionally blow-dried by my hairdresser.

There’s some useful YouTube video tutorials which I watched before buying it.

Coffeepot72 · 06/11/2021 21:40

The Revlon one step does not rotate, it’s a large oval shaped barrel, great for volume, smoothing and shaping. It took a bit of practice but I blast my hair 80% dry with a hairdryer, then finish off /style with the Revlon. I no longer need straighteners, which is.brilliant. If you’re looking for curls, this might not be your product, but if you want smooth hair with a bit of volume, then it’s fab.

But if I ever go back to a layered style, I would use the rotating Babyliss again, it was really good at smoothing layers

Me too! My babylis kept knotting my hair and I had to cut chunks out. The Revlon is brilliant

I’ve heard good things about the Amika hot brush, and also T3. There’s also the dyson but that’s a big investment.
