Really Warm Coat - Under £100

Help! I'm freezing!

I need to replace a North Face Metropolis Parka which I've had for about 9 years and is pretty much ready for the bin. I have a Seasalt Janelle, which I thought might last until Christmas but I've been absolutely freezing on the school run the past few days.

Please recommend me an 'emergency' really warm coat, ideally under £100, I want a puffer type, really long, definitely below the knee and super toasty. I want to feel like I'm in bed, in my coat!

Keep an eye on Millets, they quite often have good coats really reduced.

I have one from Zara I bought a few years ago and it's usually too hot for me to wear so try there. I have a feeling it has a faint snowflake motif on the arm to indicate it's for very cold weather. I saw some long puffer coats in there the other day and some lovely winter boots in an unusual green / grey colour

Herecomesthesun70 · 05/11/2021 11:50

Nothing like what you want not I've just an O'Neill ski jacket and it's brilliant.

GoingForAWalk · 05/11/2021 11:51

Lots of people buy the Uniqlo gillet to wear under a coat when it's extra cold - they're warm and thin enough

TokyoSushi · 05/11/2021 12:09

Great suggestions, thanks!!

I know this is not at all fashionable, but last year I bought a Regatta black puffer coat on sale which was really warm and below the knee. I got compliments from more fashionable friends, so it can't have looked that bad. A friend mistook it for DKNY.

GoingForAWalk · 05/11/2021 12:58

I really like the Regatta coats I looked at recently I'd definitely buy one

GoingForAWalk · 05/11/2021 13:01

Also buy done thermal underwear. I bought some vests for teen DD recently from M&S. we also have some long sleeved ones from Decathlon used for skiing. Wear tights or leggings or thermals under jeans. It's easier to layer sometimes and creates warm layers of air

TokyoSushi · 05/11/2021 13:06

Maybe I''ll stop being such a snob and consider Regatta, this one is actually lovely but no hood! Gah!

This is the one I have in black. If it is really freezing - not often in London- I wear Uniqlo thermals with it. www.regatta.com/womens-fritha-insulated-quilted-parka-jacket-dark-khaki/

I don't think it is too hideous, but what do I know?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 05/11/2021 14:06

M&S had a coat in the window display , long, padded ( it was dark red) and £99 .
Not sure how warm (don't know what's in it) but looked nice

CMOTDibbler · 05/11/2021 14:19

Just over your budget, but you won't get warmer than Lands End and you might find a discount code around

Ozanj · 05/11/2021 14:20

I always go to Superdry when I need a coat like this.

TokyoSushi · 05/11/2021 14:26

Ooh I love these, thank you!

I did look at a Superdry Everest but some of the reviews said it was not warm, boo!!

The longline superdry boston microfibre coat is very warm and just a little bit over your budget

FrankiesKnuckle · 05/11/2021 14:51

I recently bought the superdry Fuji long line padded coat. Pretty much down to my ankles but it's like wearing a duvet.

tigerbear · 05/11/2021 15:21

I was in TK MAXX yesterday, looking for something similar, and they had loads! Saw a lovely one for £39.99
Obv, depends if you’re near a TKMaxx of course!

Bettyhatesavocados · 05/11/2021 15:25

My mum has last year's version of this from Next. She said it's the warmest coat she's ever worn:

GoingForAWalk · 05/11/2021 19:45

On another thread they're discussing the Emma Willis long padded duvet coat. Long and warm

GoingForAWalk · 05/11/2021 19:45

I am really pleased with my Seasalt 0lant Hunter. So warm it's unpleasant in September or March Grin
