Shoes or boots with this shirt dress?

I'm unable to wear too high a heel due to a foot injury. I want to wear this dress out to a dinner and not sure whether to wear shoes or boots and if so, what colour/ style?

Black ankle boots.

On the Brora website they style it with boots. I will wear it with navy tights and possibly navy suede Chelsea boots
