Ankle Boots

I need some ankle boots. Black, flattish (not adverse to platform), wearable with dresses/skirts. Where do people shop these days?! I’ve not been proper shopping for years. I’m mid-thirties, I used to be really into fashion but after children have let it slip a bit. Budget is around £300, I want quality but don’t want to look like Kate Middleton! Any help would be very much appreciated. Also, I’m only 1.6m so needs to be suitable for a short arse.

I doubt that you look like Kate Middleton

Try Grenson, Solovair or Lanx

Bluntness100 · 03/11/2021 21:50

Well generally Kate Middleton looks great, you must look bloody fantastic right now of looking like her is a downgrade, good for you.

You really need to go and look on the high street and try some on. Ankle boots are one of those things that need to be seen on because we all have different shaped ankles and some just look naff on the wrong leg.

There are lots of lovely boots in the shops right now. I am going on Friday to hopefully get a pair, but I will be trying before buying

ILoveShula · 03/11/2021 21:59

Thanks.

Bonnealle · 03/11/2021 22:08

@ILoveShula

Thanks, haha, no not quite at that stage yet!

Try Primark

Hoolihan · 03/11/2021 22:13

I've had good boots from John Lewis, Dune, Boden, Carvela.

Bonnealle · 03/11/2021 22:14

@Bluntness100
I didn’t say she looks bad, or that looking like her would be a downgrade! It’s just not my style. Apologies if I’ve touched a nerve, it wasn’t my intention. I’ll rephrase, I’d prefer more of a Vivienne Westwood look to a Jigsaw/Whistles/Boden.

OP There are loads of Vivienne Westwood look boots on the high street in all the shops. For £300 you can buy almost anything you want. I am only looking to spend around £100 tops on mine and I know I will get something decent.

Good luck !

ILoveShula · 03/11/2021 22:24

She does dress somewhat conservatively

I took your budget to mean you wanted almost-indestructable school run boots.

Bonnealle · 03/11/2021 22:32

@ILoveShula

It would be for work and weekends. I don’t wear trousers, so want something that looks good with dresses and skirts, but something that works more casually.

I have a couple of ankle boots from Russel and Bromley. They are excellent quality and look great (stylish and well made). There are many within your budget: www.russellandbromley.co.uk/searchresults?Ntt=boots&gclid=CjwKCAjwiY6MBhBqEiwARFSCPo63e1vEQwQ6_dM41XeeasrgaG43kAv8ziWn0bEPkI7tgpjzvy172xoCsDkQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&N=&Nrpp=24&No=0&Nr=AND(product.active:1,NOT(record.type:Store))

@missmoon

Thanks, I have a few pairs from there and they are well made. I’m not sure what I’m hoping for really, I just fancied something a bit different. I think I’m just in a rut. I feel like that Grandpa Simpson sketch where he doesn’t feel ‘in’ anymore!

@Bonnealle

I totally get your Kate Middleton comment.
She does look great but I would hate to look like that. It’s just not my style!

Kintsugi16 · 04/11/2021 08:17

I live in ankle boots.

I have Ash, Blundestones, Grenson’s, amongst others.

missmoon · 04/11/2021 08:24

@Bonnealle try Tracey Neuls for something a bit different? Slightly above your budget though…

missmoon · 04/11/2021 08:26

Or Hudson?

Bonnealle · 04/11/2021 08:37

Thanks, I quite like the Tracey Neuls burlap ones and the Grensons Nanette. Thanks for the suggestions.
