What's in your wardrobe?

Just that really. What do you wear day to day?
After lockdown followed by pregnancy I don't know what happened to my wardrobe but all I seem to own after lockdown cull's are leggings and baggy t shirts!
What do you own and what do you wear for say..

A day at home?
The school run?
A day shopping?
Meeting friends for coffee?

Just wondering what people wear when as I seem to have forgot how to dress!! I spent about £1000 last month trying to update my wardrobe and have barely anything to show for it other than an empty bank account Sad

I would class all of those activities as the same in terms of outfits. My wardrobe consists of 3 classifications of clothes
The situations listed above
Work
Going Out

For your day to day general clothes, I mostly wear:
Leather look leggings with jumper or long sleeve top. I try to have some sort of detail on the top - maybe an asymmetric hem or neckline or a drape. Would usually wear with an oversized wool blazer or big wrap around coat and Gregson style boots

Other days I might wear a tube midi dress with a crop cowl neck jumper or kick flare jeans with a top/jumper as above.
I've bought a not too short black wool mini skirt - it has a faux wrap and is quite flattering. Not worn it yet but would probably wear it with a ribbed body and a balloon sleeve crop cardi.

Sometimes I wear a cuban heel or block heel ankle boot - always a suede and a bit western looking.

I would wear the same of all of those too. I like to feel put together and know that I could pop out at the drop of a hat and feel good. I rarely get dressed up (rarely go out out haha) but even on days I’m wearing joggers I’m thinking carefully about how I accessorise them so I feel good.
Average week (working from home, school pick up, shopping, seeing friends) I wear combos of the following:
Joggers with knitwear and trainers
Midi or mini dresses, tights and DM boots
Jeans with bright/cosy/oversized knitwear
Dungarees with skinny-fit tops
Leather look leggings with knitwear
Midi Wrap skirts layered under an oversized jumper dress and DM boots (my fave)
Always pair some earrings with the above and am very particular about footwear
If I sound very vain it’s because I am. But it makes me happy.

I invested in a good coat. Warm, padded, with hood, Ralph Lauren. I wear it all the time, from going out, to school run in the rain and walking the dog.
Great boots: Timberland for everyday, heeled ankle boots for coffee with friends and shopping trips, stilettos for going out and date nights.
Bottoms: nice thick leggings, leather leggings, straight cut jeans
Tops: longline jumpers in my wow colours that I can dress up with scarves necklaces earrings etc but also wear with leggings when doing housework. A few shirts and blouses that I can layer with cardigans or wear with leather leggings for going out.
A couple of jumper dresses.
Two beautiful clutches and a couple of tote bags.

Everything is in my winter season colour palette so it all matches. I have clothes for all occasions I think: housework, gardening, walking the dog, shopping, work meetings, going out. The trick is to dress up or down with accessories.

Way too much stuff!

I'm trying to give up jeans for the winter. They're just not comfortable (I'm slim, so it's not a weight issue, they're just not!) and they make me a lazy dresser - I just live in jeans and jumpers for 4 months of the year. And I've given up in despair on my collection of cashmere jumpers and dresses, as the sodding moths have destroyed them.

Instead I've been wearing:

  • dungarees and jumpsuits. I have a couple of denim pairs and a navy corduroy pair of dungarees. I wear them layered over UNIQLO Heattech tops and leggings. I also have a black corduroy boiler-suit, which I LOVE and gets so many compliments from other women - although DH says I look like "a ninja plumber" 😆 These are my usually "everyday" look.
  • wide-leg trousers or skirts with jumpers. I'm skinny of hip and flat of bum, so I need the extra width to create the illusion of curves, and I have some lovely skirts that I've barely worn. I've switched to fitted, boat-neck jumpers in wool-cotton blends to go with these. I wear this to work or every day if I feel like being a bit smarter.
  • sweater dresses. Have a couple of these. Wear them with leggings and flat boots if I need to be smart-ish but also comfy and cosy.

For going out, if it's the pub/theatre, I've been in leather-look leggings and asymmetric, off-the-shoulder jumpers. I haven't been "out-out" in ages, but for Christmas night out I plan to wear either my wide-legged v-neck black jumpsuit, or a dark blue slinky silk dress that I've had for ages but barely worn.

Tbh, I've never really cracked "my style." Every season I think I have, then change it completely the following year. Enjoying what I've got so far this year though.

Midi length dresses, leather converse boots, thick leather/fur jacket for those activities.

Same dresses with heeled ankle boots and small bag for evenings out or leather leggings and a blouse.

I like a slightly vintage look so I wear a lot of dresses. I like Holly Willoughys style and I buy from a few shops she has recommended,Nobodys child,Ghost etc.
For out out(three times a year) I like The Pretty dress company or Deadly is the female.
Quick run to the shops then its usually jeggings and a shirt/top(New look or M&S)
In the house its either loungewear or pjs(Primark)

MrsBerthaRochester · 04/11/2021 14:29

Oh and I have a LOT of faux fur coats! In all colours. Love them.
