Sorry, these aren’t stylish or beautiful but I didn’t know where to ask.

We decided to brave Skye for a pre Christmas break and as we intend to walk a lot thought that overtrousers would be handy. Can anyone recommend waterproof and breathable ones please.

I wear Acai trousers when I'm out walking and I live quite near Skye. They are fleece lined and waterproof, stretchy and easy to move in and very stylish.
Alternatively I've got Berghaus waterproof overtrousers that are great but can get a little sweaty.

You need some Goretex (or similar) if you are looking for the ones you wear over the top of your leggings or whatever you will be walking in. Otherwise they will not be properly waterproof and they won't be breathable. I have some Patagonia ones and my husband has Rab - both are excellent. Ours zip up nearly the whole length on the outside - it makes it so much easier for getting on and off!

Thank you! I’ll have a look at Acai- yes it’s the sweatiness that concerns me 😳

I’ve had the Açai ones, they are lovely but not properly waterproof. I also ended up sending mine back because the fabric bobbled really badly between my thighs and looked like it would wear through after a few more wears. Not what you want for the price that they are.
I recently bought some Sprayway waterproof trousers. They are lined, so you can wear them on their own or you could put leggings underneath. I haven’t been on a really strenuous walk in them yet but so far not found them to be sweaty.
I posted about this in the doghouse, and lots of people recommended the Rab ones, but they were just a bit too pricey for me.

I have Sprayway Allday Rainpants. Very comfortable and waterproof, not sweaty at all or noisy when you’re walking.

Thanks so much for the information 👍
