Please find me a camel city coat

I really want a good quality, sharp tailoring, almost menswear-style wool coat in a warm tone. Not a wrap style or anything overtly feminine; a city coat in wool or wool-mix, and I would most of all love it in camel, although I'd settle for khaki green or another versatile warm tone.

I was ready to buy the Jigsaw Maxi City Coat (pictured) in green because the style is right, but... The model in the pic is 5'10". I'm 5'2". That would be floor-trailing territory.

Budget... £400, but... aargh... I could stretch to £500 for the perfect thing. Not averse to preloved either if it exists.

Can anyone help?

I have one from jaegar (a few years ago) they might have similar in?

jackstini · 02/11/2021 21:47

Definitely used available

stalkersaga · 02/11/2021 21:47

Just looked at Jaeger but none of the styles quite hit right and, tbh, for the price they look thin and cheaply finished in the pictures.

Single or double, don't mind. I wear an 8.

Reiss? They now do some coats in petite. Also maybe Ted Baker, Hobbs, sezanne, Cefinn?

Loopy9 · 02/11/2021 22:21

This one? www.marksandspencer.com/single-breasted-coatigan/p/clp60508085 in oatmeal colour? Not quite camel but close

Bavarois · 02/11/2021 23:17

Now it's not quite the quality you're looking for but I've just bought this and it seems a similar style. I'm 5'2 too and it's roughly the length on me that the khaki one in your OP is on that model. 50% wool, and down to £87 with the code. It's maybe more of a caramel than a camel but I'm really pleased with it.

Try The Curated. Their classic camel coat is my go to!

Ruthietuthie · 03/11/2021 02:06

I would look at Max Mara, their studio line rather than their main line. And not their absolute classic wrap style, but one with a stronger shoulder line. The quality is incredible.

Another Reiss
Sandro
Ami Paris

I would have suggested Harris Wharf London and The Fold, but they don't seem to have anything suitable in camel this year.

stalkersaga · 03/11/2021 11:26

Lots of great suggestions, thanks.

Studio Max Mara looks like a possibility if I can find a discounted lower end one or a good quality secondhand.

Margaret Howell City coat. I got mine nearly new from Ebay for around £300 last year.

Mercurial123 · 03/11/2021 12:42

Paul Smith second hand would be another option.

stalkersaga · 03/11/2021 14:01

Ahhhh, the Margaret Howell city coat would be absolutely perfect, if I could find it secondhand in the right colour and size! It would have to be sh, as she doesn't seem to have made it this year.
