Sweaty Betty versus Lululemon

Happytodayhappytomorrow · 02/11/2021 19:12

I've been given some money to spend on workout / leisure wear.

Is there a consensus as to which of these two are best?

If it matters, I'm only 5ft 2 so shorter leggings are a necessity.

Or is it going to be 50/50 and I need to get the shops and see for myself?

TIA

SB is very popular on here but Lululemon is better imo (but also more expensive!)

If you're after the comfiest, softest, lightest feeling leggings ever than Lululemon Aligns cannot be beaten. Perfect for yoga and lounging, maybe not so good for high intensity exercise.
For more intense workouts the Invigorates are very good.
They come in different lengths so just choose the shorter leg.

I have a lot of SB stuff and a fair bit of Lululemon. I’d say they are on a par, quality wise. Either definitely a good investment.
I’ve got more SB as theres a store on my local high street, so it’s just been handy to buy stuff from there - and they do regular, good sales. I think I prefer the prints and designs of SB in general.

I love SB and think they’re the best fitting/performing workout clothes I’ve ever had - but I’m tall, with weirdly long arms that make tops impossible usually, so I don’t know if you’d have the same experience as me Smile have only tried Lululemon leggings but didn’t get on with them, they fell down. Loads of my friends swear by them though. Enjoy your shopping!

I’m 5”4 and SB are too long. I have a pair of 7/8 length which are full length on me, but they are a bit loose around the ankle. Very comfy and I get compliments , but the ankle annoys me

Thank you all for replying. I think I might have to find the time to have an actual RL, in person shop.

It might be quite lovely as I'll not be spending my own money. Grin

I have both.

I think it depends on your preferences really.

SB are great multi purpose leggings, but the amazing comfort of Lulu Aligns can't really be beaten, particularly on the waist. The fabric is just buttery soft. SB don't really have a version that beats that. Because of that I probably reach for the Aligns more often.

MoltonSilver · 03/11/2021 00:05

I'm not in the UK. SB is more expensive than LL here but In my experience the quality of LL is far superior.

Girlattheback · 03/11/2021 00:19

I’m also 5’2” and the SB 7/8 power leggings are the perfect length. I have tried on lululemon and the leg lengths weren’t quite right.

allfurcoatnoknickers · 03/11/2021 00:36

I have a lot of SB, LL and Athleta too and I think SB is better. I'm short and curvy, and I think SB cut better for a big bum Blush.

I will say the LL align leggings are fab, but make sure you get the ones with the pockets.

LunaTheCat · 03/11/2021 07:25

I have just bought my first ever pair of LL Align - I am in love!

OhRosalind · 03/11/2021 10:49

Lulu Aligns are the softest and comfiest ever. They can pill a bit though. And I think my SB super sculpt and power leggings are more flattering for everyday wear.

Charlottemh · 03/11/2021 14:33

Wait for the Black Friday sales - both brands do good discounts!

LivesinLondon2000 · 03/11/2021 16:30

Or try Varley - even nicer buttery soft leggings than lulu lemon 😀

MapleMay11 · 03/11/2021 16:47

I used to love SB in the past but in my experience, LL is far better quality.

MidnightMeltdown · 05/11/2021 11:30

I haven't tried LL but they are £88. I don't mind paying extra for excellent quality, but on the reviews people say that they bobble? 😱

I would be horrified if I paid that amount for leggings that went bobbly as I'd want to be able to wear them out of the house.

VetOnCall · 05/11/2021 14:07

I have a couple of pairs of Sweaty Bettys but 12+ pairs of Lululemon leggings. I definitely prefer Lulus, I pretty much live in them. They are ££ even by LL standards, but if you can find them the 'All The Right Places' type are the most flattering leggings ever, they're a thicker material and they lift and hold in and make your arse look amazing. They come in crop and full length but aren't always in stock in the UK (I'm in Canada). The Aligns are super comfortable but not as hard wearing. I do CrossFit and usually wear Wunder Trains to the gym, they're comfortable but more durable material. The Fast and Frees are really lightweight and comfortable and the material is very smooth and doesn't bobble.

Have you looked at Tikiboo
This is the brand I wear all the time
They are 100% squat proof and wash really really well at 30 degrees
They have some lovely funky prints
They will do big discounts on black friday

onemouseplace · 05/11/2021 17:21

I prefer SB leggings, but Lulu tanks (my favourite are the Cool Raceback longline ones - they are such a nice shape and perfect for yoga).

AnnieSnap · 05/11/2021 20:59

I have jackets, hoodies and general tops from both SB & LL. All my leggings are from SB. I really like both & buy based on which style I fancy and price.
