“Going out” jacket that is not a leather biker jacket

Help!

Need some ideas for a jacket for “going out” in the evenings - dinner, drinks with friends etc.

I cannot do a leather biker jacket - they just don’t suit me at all.

Am 5’7, size 14, early 40’s.

Budget up to £100.

I tend to wear skinny jeans, top/blouse and heels when going out.

Thanks!

A blazer is your friend here. There are loads but you really need to try them on to find the one that suits you

I've got this one , it's perfect , has some shape but long enough to be flattering and thr ruched sleeves make it look more evening than office ! Crepe type material but nicer . Looks great with leather leggings or a blouse etc

Oh yes sorry h and m

I got xs so it's not oversized , I'm a curvy size 10 ( maybe 8 on top)

JJBlinks · 02/11/2021 14:28

Only xs left in stock and that def won’t fit.

It’s hard when looking online as don’t want it to be too office / work like!

Oh that's a shame , yeah that's why I like this one although if you mix it up with leather or satiny material it will make it look less officey.

I agree with PP on an oversized blazer. I got this one recently, I sized up but I don't think that is necessary as it is already cut to be large. The brown tones are very on trend, but I also think traditional enough that you don't have to worry about short life.

Thank you. I’ll have a look at that one.

I have an oversized blazer or a velvet blazer. Both very useful.

What about a fake fur jacket? I have a cropped leopard print one (which I know might not be everyone's cup of tea but I love it!) but black would work as well?

I find they instantly 'jazz up' an outfit!

brokenbiscuitsx · 02/11/2021 18:12

OP I bought a velvet blazer and plain to wear it with everything, including jeans 😊 I got it in a vintage shop but I know they are selling them in quite a few places at the moment.

Pinkstegosaurus · 02/11/2021 18:18

Velvet blazer here too! Also tweedy type blazer that I got from Tu which has served me very well for the last two years with more to come!

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 02/11/2021 18:18

Don't people freeze in blazers?

Pinkstegosaurus · 02/11/2021 18:32

If it’s too cold for a blazer I do go for a woollen trench coat type coat but for going out out I prefer a blazer

gunnersgold · 02/11/2021 18:34

The blazer is part of the outfit not a coat .I'd wear a coat on top if intending to be outside at all.

LordoftheDanceSaidHe · 02/11/2021 18:34

Blazer then a furry coat! Grin

If you fancy velvet ?

JJBlinks · 02/11/2021 20:00

Thanks all. Some ideas to look at. I just hate that shops have nothing in store to try on in my neck of the woods so it’s all online ordering.

I have a velvet blazer and a white tuxedo jacket. Much the best way of keeping warm on nights out without ruining the outfit. The tuxedo is actually slightly more versatile, as it also works over dresses and jumpsuits- the velvet doesn’t quite.
