Cotton/non-wool chunky cardis

Hi ladies,

I am fond of my knitwear, particularly a chunky cardi, but I have eczema and seem to have developed a reaction to wool so I'm going have to get rid of a few of my old standards Sad Has anyone got recommendations for where I can find good quality non-wool knitwear, particularly chunky cardis?

I think I saw one on boohoo
It came up as an advert on my fb and I was very tempted

Peruvian Connection has some quality Pima Cotton cardigans.

Thanks both, I haven't heard of Peruvian Connection so will look them up

Whispers... cotton traders have this and it's in the sale
Waits to get chucked out of style and beauty.

It’s only available in a size 22 unfortunately but Cotton Traders is a good shout, I’d forgotten about them

I’m in exactly the same boat and currently looking for a chunky cardi. Haven’t found one yet but, Cos occasionally has some nice non- wool knitwear. Lots on the River Island site, though they tend to be synthetic rather than cotton, eg www.riverisland.com/p/beige-chunky-knit-cardigan-780543

Solidarity @MeOnSea! That one is quite nice, I might order it and see what it’s like. One of the ones I need to get rid of is a similar oatmeal sort of colour, it’s usefully neutral. If only it could take on the skin-soothing properties of actual oatmeal Grin

The worst are the ones that sneak in about 5% wool. In the past I’ve made the mistake of assuming that an item is non wool, only to feel like I have princess and the pea levels of sensitivity! Solidarity indeed!

I’ve got this cotton cardigan from Knotty Ones: www.theknottyones.com/products/marina-cardigan-sand-dune

And a cotton jumper from L’Envers - they have lots of cotton knitwear: www.lenversfashion.com/products/paola-sweater-organic-cotton-off-white

Yes, the Knotty Ones do great cotton chunky knits. I also bought one in Toast a couple of years ago, but I think it was in the spring collection.

I totally agree @MeOnSea, this thread was triggered by a cardigan I hadn’t even realised had any wool in it until it was suddenly really itchy yesterday!

Ooh I like that Knotty ones link @TuftyRusty. I’d never heard of either of those brands, this is where MN is so helpful!

I'm the same @TuftyMarmoset and @MeOnSea - I have to check every label and reject anything with a hint of wool.

Although I am fine with cashmere, luckily!

Glad you liked it @TuftyMarmoset! They’re a great company - ethics are great. I believe they’ll be doing a Black Friday discount, and they always have a discount for new newsletter subscribers Wink
