I'm early 40s and think I need a boost! Along with healthy eating I think I should probably take vitamins but there are so many different types that I don't know what to choose 🤣
Can I ask what do you take and what benefits do you get from it?
I did take vitamin D up to the summer so I know I should start taking that again x

I wanted to start taking B vitamins and the most cost-effective multivitamin I could find was actually Pregnacare. I'm not TTC but it looks like a good all-rounder, minus vitamin A.

lindyloo57 · 01/11/2021 16:36

my DH just started to take zinc for prostate to keep it healthy, it also says its good for skin hair and nails, so I thought I would take it too, we are both vegetarians so we could be missing out on zinc.

Mercurial123 · 01/11/2021 16:42

I'm vegetarian I take

Vitamin D combined with Vitamin K
Vegan Omega 3
Combined magnesium and zinc
Vitamin B complex tablet

TheCategoryIs · 01/11/2021 19:17

I take iron, B12 and a multivitamin but the thing that’s really given me a boost in my forties is HRT.

PeacheyPeach · 01/11/2021 22:17

@mercurial123 this might sound a bit stupid of me but do you take them all at the same time!?

@Bavarois I feel like buying that would take me back to the days of folic acid !!

Magnesium as needed - helps you sleep. Daily cod liver oil capsules for Vitamin D.

Tayegete · 01/11/2021 22:25

I take vitamin D and magnesium. Depending on how my latest blood test comes back I might well add iron into the mix.

OnyxOryx · 02/11/2021 01:09

I take a general multivitamin/mineral supplement for 6mths over winter when I'm getting less daylight and there's more colds floating around. Either Centrum or Sanatogen. I also take generic Vitamin C and Zinc at any time I feel I'm coming down with something or if my eczema flares. In winter that's in addition to the other supplement.

ItsSunnyOutside · 02/11/2021 09:23

Vit D from Sept, through till spring.
I take vit B complex and folic acid daily {I am ttc so folic acid is a must but I think it does wonders!} I rarely feel tired, I have a very active 2 year old too! I take vit C sporadically but I feel I get alot from the foods I eat {oranges, peppers, sweet potatoe, broccoli}

My dh takes Zinc and an Iron tablet, plus Vit D daily.

NorthSouthcatlady · 02/11/2021 10:16

We are trying to conceive so l am taking Naturelo prenatal but they have a good women and men’s range. How are your iron and b vitamin levels? I know a fair few women in their 40’s, who have had issues with one of them or both

PeacheyPeach · 02/11/2021 13:08

I don't think I have any issues with my iron levels but I just can't be sure! but I wonder if there's a test you can have that shows you what vitamins you are actually lacking in or need a boost with!?

OP posts:
Bavarois · 02/11/2021 13:24

@PeacheyPeach They can test for folate, B12 and vitamin D if they suspect deficiency but they're medical tests so you couldn't just request one without symptoms. You possibly could privately but really you're better eating a balanced diet, getting enough daylight, exercising, and taking a multivitamin. Do you have any reason to suspect deficiency? Are you housebound, vegan/veggie, on any medications?

PeacheyPeach · 02/11/2021 15:01

@bavarois no I don't think I have anything lacking, Just wondering really what's the best thing to take, and what's the point in taking them what do each of them help with. I do have a good diet so that probably helps anyway and Im out side a fair bit aswell x

I have been taking vitamin C and D gummies for just over a year. Last month I started with Omega 3 on advice of the doctor and today I brought some beauty gummies!
I don't know it the vitamins will/are making a difference but they are easy to take.

LightOfAThousandStars · 07/11/2021 00:27

Vitamin D, Vitamin C, B Complex, Omega 3 and Evening Primrose Oil Capsules (for hormones/pms)

superplumb · 07/11/2021 03:28

I'm 43 and I take
Iron, vit d, fish oil, vit c with zinc, magnesium. Cant take b vits as they give me spots

Aderyn21 · 07/11/2021 08:00

I take vit d and k2 - these should be taken together. I take iron as needed - this should be taken separately to the others unless you are taking vit c in which case take them together because the c helps absorption.
I also take b complex, magnesium citrate and a probiotic.
Am 47 and on get for menopause symptoms so these help with sleep, muscle cramps, hair etc.

Fluffycloudland77 · 07/11/2021 09:22

All of them plus a diet high in antioxidants & oily fish to keep your blood from clotting. There’s no phoning it in after 40.
