Recommendations for pale, tired looking skin in your 40s? Foundation, tinted moisturiser etc...

Everything I wear in the winter on my skin makes me look tired and pale. I have dark rings under my eyes too!

For me, going into my 40s I found my skin, which had a tendency to be dull, became very dull and tired looking. Vitamin C has been revolutionary for me. I use a Body Shop Vitamin C moisturiser because it also has an SPF which I like, but if you don't mind using SPF separately there are a lot of options. I've also experimented with various Vitamin C serums. The Ordinary one is effective, I think, albeit it doesn't have an instant result.

I also like the Clarins facial peel - I find it really perks up my skin and I like to use it once a week or so.

Facial tanning oil mixed with moisturiser helps.

Then after trying every foundation stick and liquid going, I discovered that Rimmel Lasting Finish works best. I go for one tone darker than my skin at its palest as the matching colour makes me look like a ghost!

And I always use a blusher too. Or matt bronzing powder.

All of this. I’m so pale, and the tanning drops just take the sickly look away for me. And that Rimmel foundation has been my go to for a couple of years now, unless I’m going out out… and I tried everything I could find from budget brand to luxury and everything in between.

I’m 40 and have combination skin, so tinted moisturiser was a big no-no for me. I like Trinny London BFF to wear under my foundation though, or Becca primer
