Hi,
What would you recommend for a newby to Uniqlo? I am 45, size 12 and 5ft 6"?
Thank you

I am a 12/14, 5ft3 and would wear L - perhaps try both M and L and see?

Thank you. Are there any good go to items that I should look to purchase?

Their sizing can be all over the show - I wear a size 8 in most shops, I have the down filled coat in XS, but need the M in the crew neck wool jumpers to avoid them being uncomfortably tight (I could just about get away with the S, but that's very snug).

That said, their wool jumpers wash well and look good after a couple of years, are good basics for winter wardrobes.

Their heatech thermals are brilliant. I also like their jeggings, jeans and smart trousers. Their merino crew necks and polo necks are lovely this season. I love my uniqlo seamless down puffer jacket. I live in Uniqlo stuff!

As a Japanese company their clothing tends to run small, so as an hourglass, 5ft 5, dress-size-10-sometimes-a-12 in most shops, I expect to wear at least a medium in Uniqlo. E.g. for comfort I have the skinny joggers in an L.

The heat tech base layers are an every day staple at this time of year. Really light weight but incredibly warm under layers that keep you warm. i have some skin toned so you can wear a light colour fine sweater or shirt and not have the bumps or colour of your underwear show through.

I also love the collarless, sleeveless, down gilet as it's virtually invisible under eg a denim jacket or blazer/suit jacket but it will keep you so warm you can go without a coat on milder days.

Otherwise, their knitwear is really nice - good range colours and choice of necklines. I like the lightweight merino cardigans.

This may seem random but, I really recommend Uniqlo folding umbrellas! I like them so much I have three now - one navy, one black, one khaki, for home, work and the car - they are so sturdy and can withstand really squally weather!

I love their leggings trousers and the built-in bra camisole tops. I also have a few of this type of blouse in various colours. I find that if I take them out of the dryer and hang them up straight away they don't need to be ironed.

T-shirts

I expected their sizing to come up small, but I take a large in their short sleeved shirts and I am a size 18 and they are really loose. I think they vary a lot depending on style of item.

The size guide on their page is good. I'm not tall and the length is ok on me.

Their merino knitwear is great.
The hoodies wash well.
