Hair ideas needed

I have very boring hair. It’s below my shoulders and not A very nice shade of brown. Kinda mouse, maybe a bit darker. It’s got zero grey in it (yet). I’m in my late 30s and have quite a long face. It’s not curly but not dead straight either. I wear it tied up in a boring pony tail most of the time. I have not died it since I was 16 and back then I had some pretty horrendous highlights. I have dark eyebrows and very pale skin.

I’ve got an appointment at hairdressers to discuss ideas/have a patch test and another appointment to get it cut and coloured.

I have no idea what to ask for.

I want something i can wear straight or styled into curls. It must be long enough that If I need to put up for sport I can. It must be easy to maintain. So if I get bored the dye is easy to get rid of. I don’t want it to have any orange in at all. Or that horrid yellow colour of my old 90s highlights.

I am bored though and starting a new job after many years stuck in the same job. I feel like a change.

I’m guessing some highlights or low lights…. Not a one block colour.

Anyone have any ideas.

All I can advise you without seeing a picture is: don't keep it too long. As an owner of a wide / round face myself, I read everywhere how I should keep my hair either below my jaw / really long, or with lots of volume on top. So I'm guessing opposite would be true for you: keep volume on the sides and not too long! Have you considered a collarbone length cut?
