Finding trousers that fit - on a budget

18yo dd struggles to find casual trousers that fit her. She is lean, with wide hips, bum and thighs relative to her waist. She likes skinny jeans and thick leggings (think jeggings without the jeans styling). She prefers mid- or high-rise waists.

Yesterday dd came back from a Primark trip frustrated. Same old problem: if trousers fit her hips/bum/thighs, they gape on her waist, and if they fit on her waist she cannot get them up over her thighs.

She's 5'8" and finds cropped trousers irritating (I'm with her on that one!).

Any suggestions?

I think she needs 'curvy' styles. I have no idea who would sell these on the high street as I am the opposite! But Abercrombie, gap, ASOS will sell them

This won’t fix the problem re jeans and leggings but with other, more tailored styles, the best thing to do is to get them altered on the waist or learn how to do it. A life-long sufferer of the same problem!

My bum sticks out, so I learned to take trousers in at the waist when I was dd's age. But she doesn't want to learn it right now, nor have to make the effort with every purchase. She's having a very minor teenage hissy fit. I get it. I have an awkwardly non-standard body and I also get pissed off at the difficulty of finding something that fits, and that I like and can afford.

Pull and Bear or Bershka are great. Paper bag/Mom jeans are easier to fit perfect as it's meant to be baggy around the leg but tight around waist.

I have the same problem. I haven't worn jeans for years as is they fit my hips they gape at the back. I've been able to put a tennis ball into the gap in the past. I tend to live in Jersey trousers, sometimes I need to go down a size but they stretch to accommodate my hips and ,now, bum. I have one pair of treggings but they manage the double whammy of too tight around the thigh and baggy at the back. Yoga pants are pretty good.
