Help! Evening out clothes

Hi all,

I’m a 35-year-old working mum and I think I do OK when it comes to dressing for work or on days off but I really struggling with dressing for an evening out (probably because it doesn’t happen very often).

Going for dinner with my husband on Friday and then have a few drinks with friends to plan for - what would you wear for this kind of occasion? I’m a 10-12 and love Hush, Mango and Mint Velvet stuff.

What do you want to wear, is it formal, posh top and jeans, or informal but want to look nice?

This is fairly versatile shop.mango.com/gb/women/dresses-and-jumpsuits-long/animal-print-dress_17078630.html

Thanks - I’m looking for something that feels like you’ve dressed up a bit but not OTT. A dinner and drinks outfit rather than a big night out kind of thing.

I'm the same, OP, so watching with interest.

I’ve been out a few times recently and this is what I am seeing and wearing - either one goes.

MIDI dress with a really nice leather jacket and either white trainers or ankle boots - not high heels as I saw one night - it really looked ‘off’

Wide leg trousers with either a nice top or a nice sweater - depending on whether you are sitting inside or out. Flat white runners or loafers with this.

If you have one of those outfits in your work wardrobe just add a leather jacket or denim one to make it less work and more night out.

Thank you! You’ve given me some ideas. I think a nice jacket would really help with wearing dresses out in autumn/winter - a cardigan just looks too casual.

I find Reiss are really good at this.
I haven't the figure for everything and it's fucking expensive but the pieces I have I really love

A great leather jacket that you love wearing really helps with this. Or a velvet blazer.
