Am I too old for Air Force 1s?!

40’s but really like them but I’m not sure if I’m too old for them, but then I think what the hell, I should be able to wear what I like...! I already wear Adidas Samba and Air max 90s but are Air Force 1s a step too far?! I’ve looked at them so much I’m now surrounded by sponsored ads for them too Grin!

Nope. They’re smart trainers! Do it!

Aposterhasnoname · 25/10/2021 10:55

I hope not, I’m 54 and just bought a pair

SoupDragon · 25/10/2021 10:55

Yes. You should only wear Nora Batty type shoes now you are over 40.

SoupDragon · 25/10/2021 10:56

Seriously though, wear whatever you like!

FilledSoda · 25/10/2021 10:58

I have those , I'm in my fifties .

Mercurial123 · 25/10/2021 11:00

Not too old. I had some a couple of years ago, I have large feet size 8 they made them look even bigger. They were not a good look on me.

drinkingwineoutofamug · 25/10/2021 11:02

Got a pair . I'm 44.
Don't find them as comfy as my Nike 2090's though.
Onto my 2nd pair of the '90's

WeeM · 25/10/2021 11:04

@SoupDragon

Yes. You should only wear Nora Batty type shoes now you are over 40.

I’m annoyed at myself for letting society get in the way of the trainers that I want!

I am 40s and I’ve had them for a year. I’m into trainers and don’t give a crap if it’s what the teens are wearing

Sonex · 25/10/2021 11:07

There AF1 in this house worn by people who range in age from 13-50. The 50y olds aren't going to suddenly stop wearing their favourite trainers because they've hit 50. The teenagers aren't overly impressed when their mates comment favourably on their parents shoes tbf but that's life!

WeeM · 25/10/2021 11:11

Thank you all, I think they are going to go on my list for Santa Wink. I have small feet so hoping to get the cheaper kids ones!

Sonex · 25/10/2021 11:14

thats what I do and they're very comfy - my oldest pair are like slippers now. You do have to wear them in for a fpuoek of weeks though to get that effect so don't judge them in the early days.

WeeM · 25/10/2021 11:20

Great thanks @Sonex, I have wide feet too so I’m hoping I’ll find them comfy as I do find some adidas too narrow for me.

I am 42 and have a pair of limited edition Tron AF1s... (and a pair of AM90's) never too old for trainers, or indeed anything else. Ever.

AnotherName456 · 25/10/2021 11:23

I really don't understand threads like this. Just wear what you like.

heebiejeebies45 · 25/10/2021 11:24

Air Forces are such a classic and so comfortable once broken in too. Over 40s is nothing lol don't worry about it! Get the shoes😎

MarcelineMissouri · 25/10/2021 11:26

I am 42 and have 5 pairs of them! They’re so comfy and great looking trainers.

My teenage stepdaughter also wears them though and that does occasionally make me question myself when we’re all out together Grin

Sonex · 25/10/2021 11:28

Also small, wide feet here (they're basically rectangles) and I currently have 3 pairs, so that should be reassuring!

Only think I have found is be careful with the sizes of the kids ones - they come up a wee bit narrower and smaller somehow at the top, even in the same size. So say I'm a size 5. Two of mine are adult size 5s and are v comfortable. one is a junior size 5 and is a tiny bit small, took a lot longer to wear in, I should really have got a size 5.5 in the junior one. I'd try and try them on if you can (remember they do expand and give and get softer with a couple of weeks wear).

dunnster · 24/05/2023 00:33

Will have 4 pair soon I'm 53 don't give a flying f@#k what people say what age you should stop wearing them. I"be never had the money for expensive well made trainers & now I am reaping the benefits. AF1's such an icon look true to size & comfortable. Just wear what you want who says you shouldn't wear them at my age. Your as young as you feel 53'is the new 43.My son's think AF1's are cool. With soon having 4 pairs they should last forever. Don"t care if I'll be an OAP rocking AF1's...thing is I'll be a cool OAP. Tbh honest as I've got older I've gotten to be quite a sneakerhead ...so be it.

Weatherwax13 · 24/05/2023 00:50

I hope not. I'm 50 and wearing them now.
Don't let your shoe choice be dictated to you!
Although hopefully you'll team them with sensible, short hair as you are over 40 after all.

Hawkins0001 · 24/05/2023 00:57

Wear what ever you prefer, although I did wonder if it was USA air force one at first

NannaKaren · 26/05/2023 19:16

Buy them x

ThistleTits · 26/05/2023 20:06

I'm looking at some and I'm 60 next week. Wear what makes you happy 😊
