Help! Which "work trousers" would work with boots

I want to buy myself some new work trousers but don't know what style to look for. I'd like to be able to wear boots with them in winter. I'm short, size 12, with big thighs so finding trousers to fit is a bit of a nightmare. I usually wear this sort of thing www.marksandspencer.com/straight-leg-trousers/p/clp60160351 (I know, frumpy and hideous, but they feel like a safe choice for work!), but they sit awkwardly over boots. Any suggestions for styles of trousers (and boots) to try would be much appreciated.

Does it have to be trousers? Dresses/dressed skirts with thick tights look good with boots.

I love dresses/skirts with tights and boots on other people, but I feel self conscious in them. Might be worth another try though, thanks

what about legging style trousers? they'd look good with a pair of ankles or long boots.

I find a tapered leg , ankle grazer trouser works much better with ankle boots. They stop just short of your boots and as they are tapered there is no flapping fabric.

I have a few pairs with a side stripe which keeps it looking modern. Or something like this would work

I'd go for a straight leg slightly cropped trouser with a stylish flat ankle m boot. So the trousers hang over just the very top of the boot.

Thanks, I'll have a look at straight/tapered ankle grazing styles. Might need new boots too, the ones I have are quite clumpy biker style. Legging style could work too but I'd need to get some longer tops too. Thanks everyone

Agree with tapered leg. Good for big thighs/bum and great with boots. Or slightly cropped wide leg is also very current.

I have some smart grey cropped wide leg trousers very like the Whistles ones @Griefmonster has linked to - I think they were from Mango.

They look fine with my All Saints Franka boots, they hit just at the top of the boot on me (5'3") and they go well with different tops/coats. I actually didn't expect to like them as much as I do - I may well order some black ones from that link Smile
