Evening! I want to treat myself to a new candle for winter. I have shortlisted 5:- Diptyque Ambre; Maison Margeila By the Fireside; The White Company Winter; Byredo Bibliotheque and Jo Loves A Log Fire. I cannot get to Manchester to sniff any of these. Any thoughts on which throws out the fragrance the best? I have a large lounge to fill! Thank you in advancd

Not helpful BUT Grin I have the small version of this and it's beautiful so might be a cheap one to also get

I lit it the other day and forgot how lovely it is
I've heard good things about the by the fireside candle

Perfumista · 24/10/2021 17:53

This sounds amazing. I might get this and By The Fireplace as they would both total the price of the Diptyque

@Perfumista that's a good idea! I'm wearing by the fireplace perfume today and it's lovely

Perfumista · 25/10/2021 14:50

@NotMyCat oooof that sounds perfect for a cool Autumn's afternoon. I bet the smell lingers on your clothing, too?

White company Winter throws scent and is quite cheap. Is more a Christmas smell though.

NotMyCat · 25/10/2021 14:54

It does, it goes from smoky to a softer vanilla which I really like

Pandaly · 25/10/2021 17:35

The White Company Winter is nice but I agree, Christmassy.

Perfumista · 25/10/2021 17:54

I am going to have to buy a few now. The White Company Winter one can be for the Christmas period. Should be sourcing new winter boots but much prefer shopping for smelly things

I’ve sniffed a few DW mystic and lucky ones today, they were lovely as well! @NotMyCat

Pandaly · 25/10/2021 18:20

Anyone smelt the diptyque Christmas ones this year?

doadeer · 25/10/2021 18:24

If anyone wants to support independent brands these are my favourite from Iggy Box (candle subscription)

Lumos Apothecary
Feathers and Fellows
Nickola Candela

All gorgeous!

buckeejit · 25/10/2021 22:17

Get the fragrance oil from the white
Company & use on pot pourri/pine cones or a diffuser. Cheaper than a candle & great scent throw

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 26/10/2021 20:28

I also love true Grace stuff-always have special offers-eg spend £60 and they send you a free (full size) candle!

Ones I like are English garden, portobello oud, blackcurrant leaves and Moroccan rose.

Claudia84 · 26/10/2021 20:30

Diptyque Ambre is gorgeous and does throw really well. It's my favourite candle EVER. I can only compare it to the Jo Malone ones that are a lot more subtle.

Currently they are doing 6x 20cl candles for £100! Bargainous!

AnaViaSalamanca · 26/10/2021 20:37

A log fire is not good, smells very nice as a candle, but you have to put your nose it it to smell anything.

bravotango · 26/10/2021 20:54

'Snug' from the Liverpool Candle Company is comforting autumn in a candle. And only £13!! I've stocked up because I cannot get enough Grin
