Can boots be worn with non skinny trousers?

Tying myself in knots trying to work out a winter wardrobe for work (teacher of sen). I will need to wear boots at some point as it gets cold where I live and I do some outdoor stuff with the kids sometimes. I really don't suit skinny trousers (chunky legs) but can boots work with other types of trousers? If so, what ones? Need to be comfortable and not too expensive! Thanks 😊

Someone suggested doc style shoes and warm socks on a similar thread the other day which I am going to try.

@AmberLynn1536 I think the straight legs would need to be just above the 'foot' part of the boot to work but not half mast

I wear straight legged jean with boots all the time. Shoe boots mostly, but narrower topped ankle boots are fine under them too. I don't care if things are apparently dated mind - I just wear what suits me and I think looks good.

@TheVeryThing yep, black jeans would likely be fine, will have a look

Also @AmberLynn1536 I'd absolutely go with skinnies if I suited them too, think they look great and are really versatile

Agree Duvetdrama at least there is a choice for every body shape these days and no one is limited to a particular style if they don’t suit them.

Straight leg trousers are your best bet and you can either wear smart flat ankle boots or a practical chunky style. Just make sure you get the right type of trousers as if they are too short in length and wide they just look like they are flapping around. The Mint Velvet examples are good, Next is a good option for ordering trousers and sending back those that don't look right.

@bellamountain yes, Next is definitely my go to. Will have a look at Mint Velvet, never heard of there before

I actually love how wide leg trousers look and I think they suit me but I can't wear boots with them or a sturdy shoe for Winter, can I??
