Birkenstock slippers

Does anyone have these? Now I’m home 90% of the time I need good quality slippers that I will safe running up and down stairs in and that actually last. I’ve realised that cheap slippers are a false economy.
I’ve flirted with the bejewelled fluffy “ironic” slippers for fun during the pandemic but I’m over that now (and they are grubby and hard to clean). I’ve tried on some ugg slippers recently but the design was impossible to walk in which put me off trying more of their designs (style over function)
What I particularly like about the Birkenstock’s is the removable footbed because let’s be honest that’s the bit that gets grim first with slippers and hard to access to clean.
One looking at the zermatt which seems to be unisex, does that impact on the width I choose? I’m standard width in their sandals

I wear the sandals as slippers all the time, I would remain cautious on stairs as anything that isn't attached round the ankle has the potential to come off! I would like a furry lined pair for winter, lot of money though

CaptainMyCaptain · 24/10/2021 12:25

Difficult to find if you are size 5. I ordered mine from Very as the Birkenstock site had none left.

I have the Boston felt for indoor shoes
Absolutely brilliant and have lasted for ages.
Enough room for fluffy socks in the winter.

TerribleCustomerCervix · 24/10/2021 13:26

I have the Boston in a tan suede with the soft footbed.

Extremely comfy, and although absolutely hideous I can get away with wearing them down to the shop or nursery drop off without it being an obvious case of “omg that lazy slattern is out wearing her slippers!”

Chocolatecoatedkettlebell · 25/10/2021 07:06

When I first read these I though that Boston felt was an alternative brand, I can see now it isn’t. Thanks for your feedback, they will be going on the birthday list 😁

I have the sheepskin Arizona and they haven’t worn well on the inside sole, they’ve worn out in places. They are lovely and warm though.

I have Ugg slippers on this very minute just as I have for the last 4 years! I find them really comfortable, hard wearing and sensible for punching wheelchair and running up and down stairs. I also fancy the shearling lined Birkenstock's too. You just need a style that you get on with

MartyHart · 25/10/2021 16:06

I've just bought zermatt slippers, they are lovely and very comfy. Also look smart.

Dazedandc0nfused · 25/10/2021 16:17

I have the Zermatt slippers. They are fab! You can change or replace the footbed in them. They just slide out of the slipper. I am a standard in the Madrid sandals so got the slippers in the same width and they fit well. Hope this helps!

asparalite · 25/10/2021 16:19

I've been very impressed with Giesswin slippers, washable too!

I am wearing my Boston Felt, 7 year old Birkenstocks right now.
I have terrible feet. These are very comfortable and last forever.
It takes about two weeks for the cork sole to wear in.

museumum · 25/10/2021 17:17

I have zermatt. Love them. But I’ve no idea what you mean by removable footbed? Pretty sure mine aren’t removable Confused

Dazedandc0nfused · 25/10/2021 17:35

I have the soft cork footbeds in mine and they lift out of the slipper casing. You can buy different footbeds for them. I was looking into the shearling footbeds for winter as you can swap them over.

OMG!!! They do come out! How did I not know this??
Pucarbuile · 25/10/2021 18:26

I was looking at the Andermatt boot slippers for winter. They look like they'll keep me warm and stay on when I run out to the clothes line. www.schuh.ie/womens/birkenstock-andermatt-grey-slippers/1439957570/

Chocolatecoatedkettlebell · 08/11/2021 08:32

I’m back, and I have my slippers. I considered what @fiorentina said about the sheepskin and went with the standard footbed in standard width and so far they are very comfy and absolutely warm enough. I’m really impressed with them and I’m hoping they are a more sustainable choice that cheap/fashion options I have chosen in the past.

Thank you all for your advice.

I’d caution on buying new ugg slippers @Sooverthemill. I had some for 5 years and they were amazing, but got some for Christmas last year and they started wearing badly inside after a month! So disappointing. The old ones look better than the newer ones, and that’s after giving one to the dog 😂
