Have got one coming up in December. What would you wear? Would a black or dark green midi wrap dress be suitable?

Loungewear!?! Lounge suit I’d understand, but loungewear? Joggers and a hoodie?

Hairybaker · 23/10/2021 21:19

Yep it says Lounge wear. I know what you mean but am assuming they mean lounge suits and whatever the equivalent is for women?

I read it that it was a joke that everyone has been wearing lounge wear as wfh for so long and they do actually mean wear joggers and jumpers etc

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 23/10/2021 23:30

I also read this as a joke. Watch out for people bowling up in onesies.

Hoodie dress in a fine knit and some nice new trainers.

Hairybaker · 24/10/2021 06:49

I definitely don’t think it’s a joke due to the nature of the industry. So assuming they mean “lounge suits” what would you wear?!

Hi @Hairybaker yes a wrap dress would be fine. It’s quite an old school term now I guess so the sender does run the risk of a younger mob in joggers turning up but definitely not your problem Grin

Suprima · 24/10/2021 06:53

Lounge wear for ladies is basically wedding guest attire

Daytime formal - not evening dresses and taffeta ball gowns

Your wrap dress with matching accessories would be fine

BikeRunSki · 24/10/2021 07:07

Lounge suits is the type of suit you’d wear to a business meeting, rather than black or white tie.

So the women’s equivalent is what you might wear to a business mtg in your industry. “Naice” wrap dress dressed up with heels, tailored jacket etc would be ideal.

RoseAndRose · 24/10/2021 07:19

Wrap dress would be fine, and you'll need a jacket

Autumnbaths · 24/10/2021 07:34

It's basically formal business wear. Your wrap dress sounds fine.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 24/10/2021 07:55

I wonder when dress codes for events will stop being defined by what a man should wear ...

Lounge wear is a bit less formal than what many people would consider wedding guest attire. Proper wedding guest dress is generally morning dress, tail coats for men, for women, a dress (Often with a jacket/coat) and a hat. Essentially the sort of thing you see The Duchess of Cambridge in for formal daytime events.

Lounge suit is less formal, men in two piece business suits, women probably in a dress, no hats required, trousers or a skirt and top could also be appropriate.

You might be able to wear the same dress for both events, but you don't want to turn up to a business awards lunch in full a mother of the bride style matching mauve coat dress, bag and court shoes!!!

Sittinginthesand · 24/10/2021 08:51

Lounge wear is 100% NOT what you would wear to a wedding! As others have said it’s a ‘normal’ suit, so the equivalent of a formal work meeting. I would wear dress and jacket or tailored trousers, silky blouse or top and jacket.
