Alternatives to frizz ease

I’ve been used frizz ease for around 25 years and just wondering if there is anything better out there I should try? I have wavy thick but also flyaway hair and it looks great on day two or end of the first day after frizz ease and blow dry but not so great immediatly after wash - too fluffy. I have tried various serums and oils that you put into dry hair but invariably that solves the problem on day 1 but then hair needs a wash for day 2 or it looks greasy and I don’t really want to wash my hair everyday as it’s long and thick and takes quite some time to dry. I’m thinking surely hair tech has moved on in 25 years

I’ve just discovered lush for hair products. I also have long curly hair. I use the coconut shampoo bar, glory conditioner and curl pong hair cream - it all smells lovely and my hair has never been so nice.

I use olaplex on my way hair.

Wavy, even Hmm

Mercurial123 · 23/10/2021 09:26

Olaplex 6 or Davines Oi oil.

I’ve had most success with using a few pumps of Moroccanoil on damp hair before blow drying.

Sounds like we have similar hair OP. Mine is very thick and wavy, not really curly. If I just use morrocanoil I can get away with washing it twice a week (I do once on the weekend, once midweek). If I use anything else by the start of day 3 it’s horrible.

Argan oil has been brilliant for me. I like olaplex too.

Tresemmé Keratin 7 day heat activated conditioner has transformed my bonce! Obvs they discontinued it just as I discovered it so I had to buy 6 tubes on Amazon!
Keratin makes my coarse, wavy frizz a dream! I don't need straighteners

Superdrug has got it at half price.

@Blondiney oh my! I never think about Superdrug! That's stocked me up nicely. It's the conditioner in the white tube! You're a star, thank you

Do you "refresh" your hair between washes? Mine is curly so it might be a bit different, but I use something like a curl gel(about a pea sized amount) and really damp hands, tip my head up and smooth it through, then scrunch the hair. This usually calms the frizz. I can repeat this for 2 or 3 days before it needs washing again. I used to be a frizz ease addict but found out John Frieda was a massive Tory donor so stopped buying it. There is so much now for curly hair - I am not brand loyal at all so I would just recommend buying what is on offer and smells good.b

Im still getting over the realisation that ive been using frizz ease for 25 years too.

I don't rate Frizz Ease that much at all. However, my hairdresser reminded me of Kerastase recently and I have bought a couple of things to try again. It's pricey but my god, I didn't think my hair could have a shine to it again anymore.
What I think is responsible for that is this product in particular:

Kerastase Nutritive Nectar Thermique.
www.allbeauty.com/gb/en/1173227-kerastase-nutritive-nectar-thermique-nourishing-heat-protecting-milk-150ml
used alongside Kerastase Volumifique shampoo
www.allbeauty.com/gb/en/1175246-kerastase-volumifique-bain-volume-volumising-shampoo-for-fine-hair-250ml

FYI I know you're asking for a recommendation for thick wavy hair. Mine is not all that thick these days but it does have a natural wave to it. In any case, the Nutritive stuff has got the frizz under control for me.

Color Wow products are really good and they do plenty for your hair type.

Haha, you're welcome! I bought a couple too, you had me curious. Grin

asparalite · 23/10/2021 22:52

Color wow dreamcoat really works.

BatshitCrazyWoman · 24/10/2021 08:12

I don't use any products after washing my hair, but use 3 More Inches Life Saver on my hair the night before washing it. It dries so I sleep in it, rinse out in the morning and wash as usual. It has transformed my hair to shiny non-fluffy waves

BatshitCrazyWoman · 24/10/2021 08:13

Meant to say, I don't use products with silicones in on my hair, they make it go all weird.
