Please inspire me: what dresses are you wearing with black tights?

I have quite a few dresses, but they’re all summery - midi, short sleeves, fairly thin. I can layer a roll-neck underneath, but they still look a bit rubbish with tights.

So please inspire me: what wintry dresses (long sleeve? Jersey? Knit dresses?) are you wearing with black tights and boots? I think they look better on me if they’re knee length or above, especially with tights, but I might be wrong.

I have plenty of black boots - long leather ones, chunky biker ones, patent ankle with a little heel, so I think it’s the dresses that are the problem.

I haven't worn this the last couple of winters but will in a few weeks.

I have this shirt dress from M&S which I love. I wear it with black tights. They also have a corduroy version which isn’t £££.

Oh no, that cord dress has just found it’s way into my basket 😂

Same @RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie - just looked round the shops and came home with nothing.

But I think I prefer the checked shirt dress from earlier.

And I love a denim pinafore but I can’t wear denim for work. Spoilsports!

Ditto! Frills and high necklines really don't suit me, and the majority of dresses seem to have them.

Parnabyssaddlery on Instagram have some nice dresses and jumper dresses. Unfortunately they don't sell them on their website, but here's an example.

Hush has got some nice dresses to wear with tights and boots, the Ivy v neck is nice but definitely size down at least one size.

They’re really nice, good fabric, nice fit and stretch and I’ve worn them loads.

I tried that cord one from hush but it didn’t work for me, the shoulders are slightly gathered which doesn’t suit me and it was too long (but I’m short) It’s a lovely colour though.

I have ordered the Hush cord one in black. I really like the red colour but I don't think I would wear it .

@taybert where did it come to you on? I'm 5'3" and prefer above the knee dresses.

This for £22 from sains has been brilliant. Super comfy and comes in different lengths.

@bendmeoverbackwards I’m the same height and it’s just sitting above the knee (not much)

@MargosKaftan thanks for that link. I've ordered it in blue, bargain at £18. I agree Landsend is not exactly cutting edge in general but that looks like a good everyday basis dress.
