Foundation - double wear light

Hi
I’ve been using EL double wear light for a couple of years now and it’s the best foundation that I found for the coverage that I need, however they have now discontinued it and I’m looking for an alternative, the traditional double wear is too thick but I do need decent coverage due to some scarring and pigmentation. Can anyone recommend something similar? Thank you

Thischarmlessgirl I also use EL double wear light and am seeking a replacement.
I was advised by the EL assistant to mix traditional double wear with a small amount of serum to obtain the consistency of light double wear. This does work but obviously more convenient to have just a tube.
. I also understand that EL are launching a replacement for DWL in February 22. Hope this works for you.

@Mumek thank you that’s really helpful!

Oh not again! Wasn't it a replacement for double wear fresh?! I swear it's only been out about 2 years. Why can't they just leave things alone.

CandleWick4 · 22/10/2021 17:18

Armani luminous silk is a good foundation. Lightweight but a decent coverage

JengaCupboard · 22/10/2021 17:19

Bare Minerals liquid pro. Totally converted!

DanglingMod · 22/10/2021 17:21

It was brilliant and I'm gutted it's discontinued. A No 7 product was recommended on here but it isn't a patch on EL. Total waste of money.

NoEffingWay · 22/10/2021 17:22

Noooo! It's such good foundation for daily use, I have DW but it's too heavy for everyday.

Polmuggle · 22/10/2021 17:28

EL do a futurist hydra foundation that they're billing as an alternative to DW nude/fresh/light. But I think I'm off to Armani, I'm fed up of the chopping and changing!

IT cosmetics have a cc cream range that builds up in coverage. It covers even my pigmentation hotspots which are so dark they are almost black

Whiffle77 · 22/10/2021 17:44

Oh no, I didn't know this!! Its my HG 😭

EdenFlower · 22/10/2021 17:48

Oh no, I didn't know they were discontinuing this- was just about to repurchase it for my DD. Guess she'll have to pick something else. The nearest I've got to it in texture and coverage is the Kevin Auction Etherealist illuminating foundation- it's a little more expensive, but the packaging is better as it's a nice airless pump bottle.

Did you try picking up a sample of DW and blend with 50/50 BB cream?

I had atrocious acne in my 20s, loved DW for the full coverage, but hit 30 and pregnancy and DW just found allll my lines. So I just "diluted" with BB cream and found it dewier.

RiverSkater · 22/10/2021 20:39

What about the Revlon Colourstay full cover?

WellTidy · 22/10/2021 20:48

I don’t think the EL futurist hydra foundation is anything like DW light. The FH is very runny and light, it is buildable, but doesn’t give anything like the same coverage. It is very nice though, and because it is EL I knew what colour would work for me, and i think it suits me now that I’m late 40s, but it isn’t a comparable product.

Whatwouldnanado · 22/10/2021 20:52

I have switched to Futurist. Love the dewy finish and Spf 45. Use it with EL illuminator too.

cannaethink · 22/10/2021 20:54

I discovered it’s been discontinued today too, urgh!
I’ve spent far too long this evening googling alternatives but I think I’ll need a trip to town.
Estée Lauder seem to have launched Double Wear Sheer in the US which may be the “new” light. I watched a YouTube review of it but it seemed to transfer onto her mask, and while she was comparing it to normal double wear, she did mention that she’d preferred DW light to the sheer.

Vanpod · 22/10/2021 20:58

Watching with interest as I'm a dwl user too and regular DW makes me break out. All of my local shops have run out of their last supply in my colour so I've been using Maybelline Super stay and it's ok but coverage nowhere near as good.

I'm not switching to another EL product as I'm sick to death of the changing/discontinuing.

orangepeelsz · 22/10/2021 21:02

They've discontinued it?! Whaaaat? Sad I'm just about to run out

WellTidy · 22/10/2021 21:04

Much as I like it as a lighter foundation, i think the EL futurist hydra comes off too easily too. I use a really good primer and this never used to happen with Clinique Even Better or with DW light.
