What kind of jeans would suit me?

I’ve lost weight and all my jeans are just that bit too loose. I fancy a change from skinny jeans but I’m not sure what I could pull off. I have to buy online so I can’t just go and try on loads, unfortunately.

I’m size 6-8, petite and short waisted so legs are proportionally long for my height (5ft2) so 7/8 jeans are normally perfect slightly cropped ankle length. Anything too high waisted and I don’t have a torso. I have quite narrow hips, chunky thighs for my size. In winter I wear jeans with stan smiths/ NB trainers/doc martens.

Maybe a slim cropped straight leg? Cigarette pant/slim cropped styles suit me generally but I’m thinking of straying. My favourite jeans are Sezane brut sexy (but the knees go baggy too fast) and Sezane perfect slim (but I’m interested in something other than skinnies). I have some mom jeans which are comfy but don’t do anything for me. I like wide/flared jeans but I don’t think they’d work for my height in flats.

I’m in the EU so ASOS/zalando or brands like other stories, Zara, Rouje, Sezane. In the past I’ve found Levi’s great quality but there are so many styles I don’t know where to start. Any recommendations?

Levi’s 501s, you can choose the length that works for you. They are straight leg but can be snug enough to not be mum jeans. They are high enough waisted to be current but not the highest.
They look perfect with DMs

Straight leg, turned up. Not flared. shopredone.com/collections/denim/products/high-rise-stove-pipe-worn-in-naf?variant=40129693810870

If these are too expensive, there are loads like it but more affordable.

Because you're petite, you shouldn;t wear any 'extreme' jeans...so no flares, no big baggy things, not skinnies...

Thanks for conferming what I suspected! No extreme looks for me then.

The re/done jeans are over 400€ unfortunately! I’m looking for something under 150€.

If I buy a pair of second hand 501s on vinted will the cut be the same or has it changed over time? Is Levi’s sizing true to size?

If you buy “vintage” Levi’s you have to take into account that they are men’s and will be been shrunk to fit so measurements need to be adjusted. There was some chat about this on this thread:

I have both vintage and new women’s ones. The vintage are a slightly more relaxed look

Thanks @Chocolatecoatedkettlebell that’s helpful

I got levi 501 in the cropped length and it grazes my ankle. I'm 5.1"

So, my 501s have arrived. They are super comfy and very flattering from the back but I’m not sure they do anything for me from the front, I basically look like a big rectangle, and definitely shorter and wider than I actually am. Where am I going wrong? Should I try slim rather than properly straight?
