Girls funeral outfits - Childrensalon / Mayoral?

Hi I’m after some advice please. My mum is dying. I need to sort out, amongst a million other things, funeral outfits for my two DDs (8 and 11) ideally without going into a shop. My mum always loved little girls in red wool coats but I currently lack the wherewithal to think of where I could look. I’m also looking for black dresses of some description. Google search keeps giving me results for Childrensalon website and particularly Mayoral clothes. Can anyone recommend this website? And what is the quality of Mayoral clothes? The online reviews are generally good, but I am a cynic!
I did find a nice coat in Monsoon, but it has a hood which I am not keen on - if anyone has this coat and can tell me if the hood is detachable you could save me a search!

We have a few mayoral outfits, the quality is really good. They are quite traditional outfits. My mum is a fan too.

I've just bought my daughter this red coat from monsoon. The fur collar comes off easily so you would be able to tone it down and it doesn't have a hood.

I don’t think the OPs daughters will be that affected by having to wear black. I’m sure they know by now that it’s traditional to wear black to funerals (and Remembrance services etc) so I don’t see any harm in it if it’s important to the OP/her mum/wider family.

I’m so sorry about this and hope you’re okay. We have had some outfits for dds from mayoral - they are nice quality and nothing to complain about really. Can’t recommend any specific black dresses as we’ve not had any.

Ignore pp saying not to dress the girls in black - it’s a funeral. Of course if that poster doesn’t want people in black at their funeral I’m sure she will tell them.

Lovely idea to buy them red wool coats as well - I’m sure it will be nice for the day, or as nice as it can be, to have the girls dressed in outfits their grandmother would have loved.

So sorry to hear about your mum. I’ve bought Mayoral clothes in the past, and have always been pleased with the quality. I’ve never bought from children salon, I normally buy from Bumble and Bee kids and can’t recommend them enough

I am so sorry. Looking for funeral clothes can add to stress, particularly trailing around shops.
Black dresses for girls can be hard to find, without bits of glitter, sparkle, and logo detail! Would you consider navy at all?

Only a thought, but I have seen children wearing school uniform which looked smart and appropriate. School uniform suppliers can also supply black pinafores, skirts and jumpers if the search for a black dress is unsuccessful. Whatever, your girls will look lovely, and the red coats sound a perfect choice. 💐

Mayoral clothes are really good quality ime, and i’ve bought from childrensalon a couple of times with no issue. Delivery was pretty fast from what I remember (admittedly a couple of years ago now!)

Sorry about your mum 💐. My dd recently wore her school uniform to mils funeral, she looked smart and felt comfortable in familiar clothes. Personally I don’t think black is necessary - most people wear smart, somber clothes these days rather than all black ime. I found it impossible to find a black dress for dd 11 that didn’t look too little girly or too grown up and it seemed a waste of money to buy something she didn’t like and wouldn’t feel ‘herself’ in on an already difficult day.

I’ve bought many things from children’s salon and my daughter has had a lot of mayoral clothes. They’re lovely.

Mayoral is a Spanish brand; I used to buy from them when my children were little and it was very good quality. I don’t know if they still manufacture in Spain, guess part of the production will be now in China or Turkey, but haven’t heard of a drop in quality.

I would not buy anything in black. Plenty of more “formal” children clothes in navy, grey or taupe, no need to use black at all. Gocco is algo good for affordable formalwear.

Anyway, focus on your mum and also on yourself. Big hugs.

We get sent mayoral clothes from time to time for dd from relatives in Spain, I’ve found the quality to be good.
