Urghhhh sticky /claggy hair!

I look like Worzel Gummidge!

Usually use Ginger shampoo or Head and shoulders and every couple of months I need to use Selsun as I get itchy. Used it the other day and my hair turned into a big claggy mess- greasy at the back despite rinsing loads and dry everywhere else.

I bought a clarifying shampoo yesterday ,expecting lovely swishy hair today and while it's a bit better it doesn't feel as clean as it could.

I'm tempted to use Fairy!!! Any sensible recommendations?

Maybe you are overwashing and that’s causing more oil production? Sounds like a lot of harsh stuff?

What's harsh, shampoo?

It's not oily, it's more sticky.

I wash it every 2 or 3 days.

Have you tried apple cider vinegar?

liveforsummer · 21/10/2021 15:32

Head and shoulders is incredibly harsh (ie you may as well use the fairy liquid) dd used it for a while due to dandruff and we had the same horrible sticky hair after a while. Not much help because whilst we've changed shampoos it has improvise but still always looks greasy. Been using garnish hair food range as it's silicone free which can often cause build up and stickiness

Rekorderlig88 · 21/10/2021 15:38

I find body shop tea tree good. I have oily hair and this cleaned without stickiness

Ozanj · 21/10/2021 15:53

Seems like buildup. Try a silicon free shampoo / conditioner. Ogyx is good

I get a very dirty, greasy scalp with ogyx ☹️ I think vosene or Alberto balsam clean build up and residue very well.

Sounds like build up, I've had this with a lot of products. I use Aussie shampoo and conditioner and not had an issue since.

I kept having really sticky, greasy hair after washing...I'm now using herbal essences detox shampoo. It's made a big difference

Comedycook · 21/10/2021 16:09

And apparently hard water can cause this issue

MrsPelligrinoPetrichor · 21/10/2021 17:02

We are in a really bad hard water area.

My hair was fine, something happened with the Selsun and it went horrible. I have quite dry hair normally, I only use the H and S now and again as I get an itchy scalp and that combined with Ginger shampoo keeps on top of it.

I used to use a Loreal shampoo which was miraculous but it was discontinuedAngry

I have Apple cider vinegar, do I just rinse it through?

Apple cider vinegar did nothing for my hair
