Is anyone else totally shit at dressing to go 'Out Out'?

What do you wear when you go out in the evening?

I've got my daytime/casual style sorted but am clueless for when I go anywhere in the evening or anywhere where I need to dress up!

Off to London for a weekend next month and seeing a show, hoping to have a couple of nice meals out etc, so could really do with some ideas.

I'm aged 45, 5ft 4, size 6/8. I love black, skinny jeans, faux leather leggings, leather jackets etc, but also happy to wear skirts and dresses.

Depends on the venue, the weather, the amount of walking you might need to do…..

I love clothes and putting outfits together. And I don’t worry about over or under dressing. I just wear what makes me feel happy and confident. Confidence (or appearance of) is probably the best accessory for any outfit.

Last few times I’ve been out I’ve worn…
Sunshine yellow silk shortish dress, black blazer and heels

Fitted black playsuit with colourful silk tie belt and platform heels (this was for a club night though. I probably wouldn’t wear this for dinner or drinks!)

Silk maxi with white trainers and battered brown leather biker jacket

High waisted red flares, wedges, silk halter neck top and I borrowed my partner’s Panama hat

Black flared midi skirt with black polo neck and trainers

Distressed skinny jeans, sequinned black T-shirt and nude heels

I would love to be better at accessories. My ears aren’t pierced and I tend not to bother with a handbag these days. And I have lots of lovely necklaces but always forget to put them on!

I'm ok for a big night out, but never know what to wear for a more casual one! Must get out of the habit of just wearing black skinny jeans

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie just going to add another voice saying I like the cut of your gib there!
Also, a strong red or darker lipstick is going to make anything look dressier and really suits the autumn/winter.

I was out in London a couple of weeks ago, went to a restaurant and to see a show. I wore a midi dress, flat ankle boots and black leather biker jacket. There were a variety of outfits being worn by people watching the show, from dressed up to the nines and those that had been seeing the sights all day. As long as your feet are comfortable that's the main thing! Plus nobody bats an eyelid, maybe unless you're going to say The Ritz or something!

Thank you. Grin

Off to London next week. I've bought a silky midi dress from All Saints and am going to wear that one night with lacy up 'bovver' boots and biker.

'Posh' lunch was going to involve a faux leather mini but then I realised I can't wear that with a biker jacket and don't want to take two coats, so will need to re-assess. Maybe a leopard print mini with a roll neck jumper and boots.

Evening drinks - not decided yet

I have an app called stylebook it was recommended on here.

You have to photograph every piece of clothing you have and it's a ball ache doing that but I love it.

It helps me actually wear the clothes I have without buying more and forgetting what I have already.

You can then create outfits! Like this.
