Has anyone washed their makeup brushes in the dishwasher?

If you have washed your makeup brushes in the dishwasher did they come out clean? Were they damaged or as good as new?

Thanks for all the amazing advice I do need to clean them more often, that is true. I bought baby shampoo yesterday when doing the grocery shopping. I like the look of the silicone brush cleaning pad so I’ll get one of those. And spot cleaning with Isopropanol alcohol is something I’ll consider as long as it doesn’t leave any residue on the bristles and completely evaporates.

I have washed mine in the washing machine several times and they have come up good as new! Put them in a mesh laundry bag on a gentle cycle with a tiny amount of delicate liquid detergent.

I bought a brush cleaning "gadget" from Aldi- it's really good. Amazon do a similar one. It was about £25.

@MissFritton65 I was looking at that style pro brush cleaner online earlier. There were positive and negative reviews so I was indecisive. There is also another one by Thin Lizzie but it had a lot of negative reviews.

I got mine from Aldi and have found it very good (it's exactly the same one) although to be honest I've rarely washed my brushes before I had this!!

I use Elle Leary's method using sunflower oil and washing up liquid. Cheaper and more effective than baby shampoo or the brush cleaners the cosmetic houses sell. She is a professional MUA. The video shows how she cleans her brushes and and products.
