Knee high boots over jeans?

Thinking of wearing high boots over jeans to work (would be well within their dress code) but is this way too dated now? I'm in my mid 40s so I know I'm invisible anyway and have awful shaped legs which the boots help to hide. I'm not bothered about keeping up with the latest looks but I don't want to look silly in front of my colleagues either.

I'm 37 and it's my standard look for autum/winter. I don't care if its dated or unfashionable though. It's a look that suits me. Or at least I feel like it does. I probably look like shit but I feel good.

As long as the boots aren’t black and your trousers red. 🎪

Also... don’t kneel on the floor to gather together tonnes of reports (or you will cut off the blood supply to your legs and have to sit on the floor whining until you can get up).

Saying that - yes I have nice boots that I wear over jeans/skinny trousers.

No. Only exception is if your horse is nearby.

Riding boots and skinnies are a classic look. It’s not ‘on trend’ but it’s not dated.

And the OP didn’t say riding boots...

At DSs old school a mum rocked up in jodhpurs, pool shirt and riding boots (all fashion items, not actual riding gear). She’s really taken a theme and run with it. Reminded me of 80s fashions!

It's very 'old money' equestrian, not super trendy, not my personal style but certainly not silly looking. I wouldn't think about it at all if I saw a colleague with boots over jeans, unless I thought her boots looked particularly nice.

It’s such a ubiquitous look, I honestly don’t think anyone would bat an eyelid. I don’t think it’ll look dated for a long time as it’s been around so long and is pretty much the only practical combination for rainy days!

This is my standard cold weather look, but then I do own a horse.

I don’t feel the need to take the horse with me everywhere though

I think it does look dated to be honest. PPs have said it’s ubiquitous but I don’t really see it around, ever. I’m mostly seeing boots with dresses and jeans with ankle boots. The skinnies and knee boots remind me of Kate Middleton in the early 00s.

I’d say it’s very dated too, sorry.
Fine for walking the dog/gardening/outdoor activities, but not if you’re going to look like it’s 2010.

I think a long knitted dress or similar (with tights) would be a better option personally.

I think it's a tiny bit dated (you have to be wearing skinny jeans for a start!) but not to a massive extent - no-one is going to phone the fashion police if they see you.

I wore this before a few years ago - knee high suede boots (sort of fitted) and when I look back on photos - it looked ok - but kinda dated. Leather riding boots I think would work better.

Can you link any pics of this? I just looked on Pinterest, and also at #kneehighboots on Instagram sorted by recent, and couldn't see any looks that I thought were particaularly fresh. Would be interested to see!
