Denim or leather jacket alternative

So what should I be wearing as a 50 something woman about town? Have been wearing longish floaty dresses but now going back to more fitted wrap dresses. I'm 5ft tall and a size 16. I'm fed up with going out and seeing all us more than middle aged women thinking we're trendy in a leather.

I think denim looks better as a blazer now, same with leather. Or there’s suede or corduroy, both much softer looking.

@Darklane I do like a blazer and now you say it, I think I have a brown leather one somewhere. I like the sound of a corduroy one.

I’m the same height as you, size 14/16 ...depending if I’ve stuck to the diet . I have a black leather blazer I wear a lot.

I think the traditional biker is having a bit of a moment again.

I am hankering after the perfect short peacoat right now. Again, a classic that is suddenly looking current.

I'm doing velvet at the moment. Luxe and warm. It's a blazer but I hanker after a velvet biker.

@Picassosdove haha I wasn't aware they had gone out. I have a navy pea coat but it's not pure wool and picks up every bit going. I love the style though. @travailtotravel I remember trawling posh charity shops about 30 years ago looking for velvet blazers. I did have a black one but I can imagine a beautiful soft plum one.
@Darklane it's doubly hard when you need a petite fitting isn't it?
