I am looking for a black slightly bat wing top.

It should be either jersey or a fine sort of knit - nothing heavy.

Neckline can be V or slash neck. Sleeves can be full length or 3/4

Here's the clincher - it must nip in at the waist as it's to wear with a longish pleated skirt and I have no desire to look like a circus marquee.

And if you can find me one of these (because I can't) you will win the star prize of.... well, there isn't really a star prize but you will be able to bask in your own triumph and glory all Sunday.

Well that was nice and easy!
A very strong first contender. Thank you 🙂

Yep, I was reading that thinking phase eight. They do lots of these kind of tops.

The Esprit sweater is really nice but I have issues with that sort of neckline. Don't know what it is - they just look shocking on me. Only yesterday, I sent back a blouse that was in my Stitch Fix box for this very reason.

Zara do the kind of top I think you want really well, I've collected a few over the years. What about this....

The other thing you might consider is threading elastic through the hem channel of a top that you do like? I do this a lot on tops, pj bottoms and joggers if they're too wide. Just cut a small slit on the inside side hem, attach the elastic to a large safety pin, thread it through the entire hem and then either knot or hand stitch. It's surprisingly easy and gives a good effect.

Baukjen tops are mostly fitted on the waist and are jersey. Beautiful quality
