I have 2 preschoolers and have no time to spend on myself. Any suggestions to help with the grey frizzy mess in the photo? Thanks in advance

You have a lovely hair texture, have you ever tried the curly girl method?

What is your current routine?

Thank you for your answers. Currently feeling a bit down as didn't realise it was that bad! There is enough other stuff like pregnancy weight and lack of sleep to make me feel bad!

Also just saw there is a similar thread about each hair...

@sqirrelfriends I'll try Google the curly hair method now. Thanks

Don't worry about the grey. If you're unhappy with the frizz (I get it, mine looks the same as yours) you can get some brilliant products nowadays. I recently discovered the Cantu Mousse which was great on mine. I hate the crunchy mousse feel and this has none of that.

Frizzyhairhelp · 16/10/2021 21:11

There is no current routine except washing it when I remember in the evening and it dries overnight... I have forgotten myself after the 2 lovely but time consuming babies!

Sad to say, I would dye it, sorry. Will knock years off and make you feel instantly better.
Lovely curl tho!

TheWeatherOutside · 16/10/2021 21:15

The greys aren't aa bad as you seem to think they are. Your curls are lovely.

My advice is to get some coconut oil from the supermarket and put it on your hair overnight. You have to sleep with one of those towelling hats. My curly dds do this once a week. It makes a big difference.

girafferafferaffe · 16/10/2021 21:16

I'm the same op. And I only have one kid haha. I never leave my hair to dry overnight as it is a total mess by morning. I wash/dry in the morning and only wash my hair every 2-3 days. I really am not high maintenance, I hardly put on make up and what I do is easy: I bought some Rimmel liner to shadow which looks like eyeliner but if it smudges it looks like nice shadow. I fill my eyebrows in a bit and put some mascara on and that's it. Time is definitely of the essence when you have kids so I just do the minimum so as to not feel like total shit (which I had done for 3 years).

Rainbow291 · 16/10/2021 21:18

I'd just get into a decent hairdressers and let them sort it out. I'm 30 and now way am I allowing myself to go grey now especially when everyone says I look early 20s. Getting a good colour done will make it look so much better. No home dyes though and a colour close to your natural one

BrilliantBetty · 16/10/2021 21:21

Of course you should never feel like you Have to colour your hair. Grey can be really nice. But I always feel brighter after some highlights / lowlights. I just think I look better afterwards. Would look great on you.
I ask for the Balayage so that I don't have to worry about 'roots' so much. Only have it done 3 times a year and tbh I feel miles better once it's done and I enjoy getting away from responsibility for a few hours each time, it's a good excuse. DH makes time to have his hair cut monthly.. why shouldn't I take care of my hair too.

I splash out on Redken spampoo / conditioner in the v large (2L?) salon Bottles so I v rarely have to restock. Current bottles been going over a year. Makes things east not to have to constantly buy new stuff.

You've got lovely curls.

Clarinet53 · 16/10/2021 21:34

Try something like olaplex mask once or twice a week and it will help with the Frizz.

Try not to wash your hair at night.

Use a cotton t shirt to dry your hair instead of a towel

Frizzyhairhelp · 16/10/2021 21:39

Thanks everyone. So if I wash my hair in the morning would you suggest blowdrying it?

Frizzyhairhelp · 16/10/2021 21:41

Thank you so much to those who say lovely curls. Very kind

OP posts:
girafferafferaffe · 16/10/2021 21:50

I blow dry and straighten mine (I have frizzy wavy hair as it's so long and heavy). If I'm leaving it curly I'll leave it wet or use a diffuser on it

whatisthisinhere · 16/10/2021 21:51

I have similar hair to yours, and I have long layers in mine. This would help cut off some of your drier ends without loosing much length. I also have a very expensive balayage once a year, and then have a toner every two months or so, with root touch up. I also never shampoo, I wash my hair with conditioner, otherwise my hair gets very frizzy.

OverByYer · 16/10/2021 21:52

You have lovely curls. Would definitely try the curly girl method to encourage them

whatisthisinhere · 16/10/2021 21:52

I also only wash once a week. I might put some curl cream through it if the ends are frizzy. I'm a also a fan of Cantu

Frizzyhairhelp · 16/10/2021 21:55

Thank you. Those who say they gave similar hair to mine, would it be possible to see what your hair looks like with a bit of effort? Need some motivation!

OP posts:
Frizzyhairhelp · 16/10/2021 21:55

Since lockdown I usually only wash it once a week approx. I worry no shampoo = dandruff though...!

Itsbeen84yearss · 16/10/2021 21:58

I would definitely be colouring it and curly girl method

Ruggish · 16/10/2021 22:00

Oh, you’ve got such great hair texture and it looks really thick.

Wash and condition it and get it dry by wrapping in a towel or tshirt. Add a blob of Windle Curl Enhancer and blob of their Day and Night Creme. A little bit last ages, maybe a year per tube. Im sure other products are available but I love these and I’ve tried loads

Now twist sections of your hair around your fingers. Quite large ones are okay. Don’t touch until they’re dry. Then you can shake or take them out gently but the fluff will have been contained.

Embrace the grey and have a trim. Voila.

Oh, and buy a silk pillow case and abandon products that have silicon in them.

whatisthisinhere · 16/10/2021 22:03

I really don't make a lot of effort, and I'm not exactly glam. I have two sons with special, reds, and don't have more than five minutes to run my fingers through my hair in the morning

whatisthisinhere · 16/10/2021 22:05

With special needs that should say, so many typos.

As you can see, I'm. It glam, but my hair has better bad hair days since I've started getting it coloured and cut on a regular basis

girafferafferaffe · 16/10/2021 22:26

Mine isn't as curly because I usually straighten it (not poker straight but just the tops)
