I can’t find any comfortable shoes/trainers

Help, I own many pairs of shoes and boots but none are comfortable, most cause blisters or painful feet. I walk a lot so mainly live in walking boots but would like something casual, possibly trainers that I can wear when out shopping etc..,

I have Van’s but a size 5 seems to be too big and a 4.5 hurts.
I have Adidas court shoes but they feel clumpy to walk in.
I have fake vans from Next and they kill my feet.
I have tried converse
I have DM’s that I have been wearing in for years but they still rub 😭

Any suggestions what I can try next?

I like my sketchers lace up trainers for wearing daily. They've never given me blisters

Whywouldyoudothatselfish · 16/10/2021 16:56

For comfort I would suggest sketchers.

I’m on my feet all day in work and they are like wearing comfy slippers.

Tailendofsummer · 16/10/2021 16:58

Very happy with my fit flop leather trainers, which I saw recommended on here. Can you tell quickly if they will be painful, so you could order a variety and then return? What annoys me are ones that only hurt once you've worn them outside...

SummerHouse · 16/10/2021 16:59

Have a look at heavenly feet. I have feet like yours. They were ripped to shreds halfway to the beach in some new sandals. I feel your pain. Here: Flowers

Wombat49 · 16/10/2021 17:04

Altras.

Look a bit silly but large, soft, cushioned toe box & sole.

I've got very sore feet but I have found this latest pair of shoes (of many) has really helped.

Cupcakegirl13 · 16/10/2021 17:10

Another vote for sketchers here I’ve only had them a week but it’s like walking on clouds

FourEyesGood · 16/10/2021 17:17

Fitflop shoes and walking boots are great. I have plantar fasciitis and these have sorted me out - my heel hardly ever hurts any more. Could be coincidence, but it really lessened when I stopped wearing Skechers and switched to Fitflops.

thedevilinablackdress · 16/10/2021 17:25

Vans and Converse are not comfortable shoes for a lot of people, far too flat and no support. I found this with Adidas too, no arch support. Trainers that support your foot are much better. ASICS are great for this.

pickingdaisies · 16/10/2021 17:26

You need to try different makes. I find most shoes are too wide across the toe box, but if I go down half a size my toe hits the end of the shoe. Gabor work for me, although finding a style I like is tricky, they are not exactly cutting edge. Their boots are good though. Then you could try proper running shoes rather than fashion trainers. If you go to a running shop They can advise you on which makes come up wide. Properly fitted running shoes will support your feet properly. And then there are ankle boots with laces and side zips, so you can get the fit right by adjusting the laces. DMs are completely the wrong shape for me. Finally, flat laceups, like Clark's hamble oak. Or Jones bookmaker usually have a good selection.
Can you tell I have the same problem?

BestIsWest · 16/10/2021 17:27

Fitflops leather trainers here too. Skechers gave me plantar fasciitis.

mrssmiling · 16/10/2021 17:33

I think I may have the same problem! I loved my Converse but they really weren’t comfortable! I have learnt that buying cheaper shoes really is false economy. Skechers are incredibly comfortable - I have some lace ups and slip ons for round the house. I have found that Ecco boots suit me well - very comfortable.

Cherrydown · 16/10/2021 17:40

I have sore feet and have to be really careful. I get on well with the following:

Puma comfort gel soles - they're in lots of their styles
Clarks
Pavers
Josef siebel

You will find something for you, look for width, good sized toe box and padded soles.

Lovemusic33 · 16/10/2021 17:40

Yes, converse and vans hurt the bottom of my feet, as do rocket dogs pumps 😭. I think I need arch support. I do have a pair of sketchers but I don’t like the look of them, wanted something a little bit trendy and not something I would wear to the gym. I will have a look at fitflop and the other suggestions.

The Altras are more your gym shoe look, so they won't suit, very comfortable tho. :-)
ElizabethTudor · 16/10/2021 17:43

Fitflops

RainingYetAgain · 16/10/2021 17:47

Different approach. I am quite narrow of hoof and bought some Ara trainers, which caused blisters on my heel every time I wore them. I bought some M&S blister socks by mistake. They are brilliant, not had a blister since.

DroopyClematis · 16/10/2021 17:47

If you suffer with your feet, like I do, then forget style... there's no point in suffering.

I've recently bought a pair of Skechers with arch support. It's like walking on pillows and I wear them with absolutely any outfit , anywhere.

I don't care if people judge me, my feet no longer hurt.

MiloAndEddie · 16/10/2021 19:05

New balance trainers. My feet have become increasingly fussy but I find them very comfy

RampantIvy · 16/10/2021 19:11

I do have a pair of sketchers but I don’t like the look of them,

Skechers come in many, many different styles

They make the most comfortable footwear I have ever worn.
I would bet if a few Instagram influencers started wearing them people's snobby attitude towards them would change.

RaisinforBeing · 16/10/2021 19:19

Air & Grace are amazingly comfy but pricey too

stickybear · 16/10/2021 19:50

Another vote for New Balance, by far the most comfortable trainers I've had. My feet are quite narrow at the heel so I often have trouble with shoes slipping and rubbing, but both pairs of NB I've had have been a perfect fit and comfy from day one

chalkyc2 · 17/10/2021 07:54

When I was having sore feet problems i found one single style of sketchers that I decided were vaguely acceptable in style terms - these ones -

www.skechers.co.uk/women/shoes/zinger-2.0---fresh/965_WHT.html

Also fitflop rally just about depending on colour/particular style. Some are ok but the black sole on black look like orthopaedic shoes for old people.

Also I find some of the more retro Nike styles quite good - like the internationalist and MD runner. Adidas ultraboost are super comfortable too - more of an investment.

Orla1970 · 17/10/2021 08:18

Im the same. I think being barefoot wfh for 18 months has really affected my feet as I am a shoe lover and have lots. Even the well worn converse/Nike/NB/Clarks/Boden/Hobbs all hurt my feet now. I’ve recently wasted so much money buying shoes for comfort Hmm more than style and they’re not even bloody comfortable! Recently I’ve bought Ecco & Hotter trainers. Both kill me. I’ve worn fitflop sandals for years so feeling desperate I bought the Fitflop rally trainers. And all I can say is they are super comfy. Not a single issue with them. Quite bouncy and supportive. I got nude and then the gold ones and I’m now thinking about the wee short navy ankle boots too. Thank fuck for Fitflop Grin

Thatsplentyjack · 17/10/2021 08:22

I've had pads of trainers and the only ones that were comfortable were actual sports/running trainers until I got my ds a pair of air force 1s. He decided he didn't like them after 2 wears because he didn't like the colour 🙄, so I couldn't see them going to waste and I started wearing them. They are the most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. I've now got 2 pairs.
Also got Dr martens soft leather boots (can't remember the actual name) and I know everyone says they need breaking in but again, they are so comfortable.

Thatsplentyjack · 17/10/2021 08:22

And I didn't need to break them in.
