I can’t find any comfortable shoes/trainers

Help, I own many pairs of shoes and boots but none are comfortable, most cause blisters or painful feet. I walk a lot so mainly live in walking boots but would like something casual, possibly trainers that I can wear when out shopping etc..,

I have Van’s but a size 5 seems to be too big and a 4.5 hurts.
I have Adidas court shoes but they feel clumpy to walk in.
I have fake vans from Next and they kill my feet.
I have tried converse
I have DM’s that I have been wearing in for years but they still rub 😭

Any suggestions what I can try next?

I like keen/merrell casuals. Keen Ella are my go to vaguely stylish trainers but they run wide (part of the reason I like them but some people hate em cause they apparently make feet look wide!).

I have to swap insoles in them (and ballets and some trainers) which make them super comfy as I find them a bit flat without. I’d do the same in converse but converse are too small inside to support a decent insole so I can’t wear converse. Good luck!

Adidas Ozweego's - so comfortable!
Or Nike Huaraches!?

Sorry but, sketchers! You know they do boots now? And some slip on leather more shoe like trainers

caspersmagicaljourney · 19/10/2021 19:12

Try Hotter - I have similar foot problems to you but in recent years I've purchased casual shoes, boots and sandals and none of these have given me any foot problems at all.
The shop is expensive but they have regular sales.

I have Vans Comfycush. The insole is thick, spongy and has arch support.

I have quirky feet (narrow width, high instep, narrow heels) and have walked several miles in them and the soles of my feet do not blister or feel bruised like they do

I recommend trying double layer socks to prevent blisters.

  • bruised like they do in converse or shoes with little to no cushioning.

You could try Pedag insoles, or a similar brand. Google them.

Sketchers tend to be fairly unfashionable but I have the black & rose gold ones while are nice and really comfortable because of the memory foam insole

Birkenstocks- they do shoes as well as sandals. Also Mephisto shoes, very expensive but well worth it. Some look very old lady but some younger, sportier styles.

Youngsprout · 20/10/2021 09:50

Adidas Ozweego I think it's like floating in air and I am on my feet 14 hours a day.

BBCdramaaddict · 20/10/2021 12:58

Vivobarefoot, bit pricey but the most comfortable shoes I’ve ever owned.

sueelleker · 20/10/2021 13:28

Cushion Walk are very comfortable, also Hotter; although people sneer at them.

RampantIvy · 20/10/2021 13:34

People sneer at Skechers as well. I would rather not have sore feet TBH.

Branleuse · 20/10/2021 13:50

my most comfortable trainers ive tried are Nike Air, the ones with the bubble in the sole. They were more expensive than most trainers but they were like walking on a cushion. I have quite sensitive feet too.
I also have some skechers which feel great, but i just keep them for sport as theyre not really cool.

A lot of shoes is trial and error according to the shape of your feet though and also sometimes I find a pair of shoes that has previously felt great, then start to rub. I find fly london boots very comfortable too and I live in birkenstocks in the summer for the arch support
