I can’t find any comfortable shoes/trainers

Help, I own many pairs of shoes and boots but none are comfortable, most cause blisters or painful feet. I walk a lot so mainly live in walking boots but would like something casual, possibly trainers that I can wear when out shopping etc..,

I have Van’s but a size 5 seems to be too big and a 4.5 hurts.
I have Adidas court shoes but they feel clumpy to walk in.
I have fake vans from Next and they kill my feet.
I have tried converse
I have DM’s that I have been wearing in for years but they still rub 😭

Any suggestions what I can try next?

Go to one of the shops that do Gait analysis and go for a pair of running/walking trainers per your gait. ASICS will never fail you. I have severe feet issues and have worn them for 10 years. Pricey but worth it.

Skechers have been pretty life changing for me . I have slip ons so don't even have to tie them up. Am on my feet all day and walk lots and it's like walking on a cloud . I was prone to plantar fasciitis for years and that has disappeared, too.

ofwarren · 17/10/2021 14:06

Sketchers ripped my heels to shreds.
I really struggle with shoes too OP. I'm currently wearing my wellies every day as I can't find a comfortable pair of closed toe shoes Blush

What shape are your feet? My toes are fairly wide and square but my ankles are really slim. I have found that only barefoot style shoes or open toe sandals suit my feet at the moment as so many shoes have a rounded or pointed toe. If I place my foot over the top of a shoe, I can see that it won't fit as my little toes and the tip of my big toe splay over the sides- but if I tried a bigger size the length is far too long. I can wear square toed shoes with a deep toe box but they're not in fashion at the moment so are incredibly hard to find.

I have this problem as well. Shoes like loafers and ballet flats are like flip flops on me. I'm fine with trainers because they come up quite far over the front of my foot.

It's amazing how experiences with Skechers vary so greatly , I don't get it ! They've been life saving for my feet after being plagued with PF previously . Yet others say they have either caused or aggravated PF. I wonder what it is .

Nothing beats ASICS for fit and comfort! My Adidas trainers with insoles are a bit trendier. I am sometimes lucky in Clarks if I add insoles and/or heel grips.

megletthesecond · 17/10/2021 14:41

Vans and converse are flat and not really OK for walking.
Try Nike pegasus or internationalist.

jalepenocheese · 17/10/2021 14:59

Sketchers or puma

MistySkiesAfterRain · 17/10/2021 19:29

If you wear the heels of your shoes down more to one side or the other (pronation) then you need arch support. I wear mine slightly to the outside.

I have some adidas sports trainers in fun colours which are super comfy. I also wear Vionics flats which come with arch support.

Lovemusic33 · 17/10/2021 21:53

I have hobbit feet 😬

I’m a size 5, my heels are slim but the bottom of my feet quite wide.

I have a pair of Adidas cloud foam which I use for the gym, they are comfy but I want something less sporty to wear with casual clothes. I dress a bit alternative/hippy, I have tried sketchers but they are not comfy and I don’t like them. I wear boots from Art company, they are a bit pricy, I have tried there shoe which look a bit like trainers but find them a bit uncomfortable compared to the boots and sandals. I guess I’m looking for a more chunky look of trainer/shoe or van style boots.

New balance, I have a couple of pairs and comfortable from the 1st wear!

Indoctro · 17/10/2021 22:14

Check out Oofos

They are amazing and they do a trainer version

They are runners recovery shoes but my god comfort level is off the scale

DeathMetalMum · 17/10/2021 22:15

I have some Adidas supercourts, I'm normally a vans wearer but they are really not good for my feet and hurt if I've walked a lot.

I've been walking a fair bit recently in my Adidas, and apart from when I first got them, where they rubbed my heel a little, as the come higher than normal they are extremely comfortable. I've been looking at another pair already.

Hoolihan · 17/10/2021 22:16

Nike Air Max.

reallyscaredof · 17/10/2021 22:21

Sketchers. Have lived in my pair for a year, I think. I do walk everywhere and they have never given me even slightest problem.
I have these

Skechers Women's Summits Sneaker https://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076TBMP2B/ref=cmswwrcppapiglttfabcCBMH5CBM9QBFZ053HEA4

Sketchers come in a huge range of styles now. They aren't 'cool' as a brand despite having styles looking exactly the same as cool brands but if it's comfort you're after they certainly are.
Think about the styles you are buying also - vans, court shoes, converse are I just can't get on with. Not sure if other people have more tolerance for unconfirmed shoes or if it's my foot shape but those styles just aren't comfy in the slightest. Normal running trainers from Adidas or Nike are fine although a bit flimsy for winter. Classic Ugg boots are like wrapping your feet in clouds!

Herecomesthesun70 · 18/10/2021 14:04

Converse are fine if you're not walking too much.
Sketchers are very comfy I agree.
I prefer a rubber soled boot for shopping and a heavy duty boot for street walking.

LMV1 · 18/10/2021 20:27

Hotter shoes - a lot of styles for the older generation but they do have more modern styles and the shoes are so so comfy, I have wide feet and suffer with foot pain and they are the only shoes that don’t hurt!

RampantIvy · 18/10/2021 20:45

I'm glad you said that. I agree. I bet if you removed the logos from Skechers and other premium brand shoes people wouldn't be so snobby about Skechers.

coffeepleeease · 18/10/2021 20:59

100% Skechers

nannygoat50 · 19/10/2021 17:58

I either wear fitflop boots or Skechers go walk and they are like wearing slippers

nancybotwinbloom · 19/10/2021 18:00

I have a set of sketchers high arch trainers and the memory foam ones. It's hard to say which are the most comfortable as they are both great on me

DialsMavis · 19/10/2021 18:08

Nike air max 90s and Internationalist are both super comfy.

SallyOMalley · 19/10/2021 18:22

Another shout for New Balance. I need some arch support and some styles are better than others. I bought these NB 500s for work to dress down smartish slim ankle length work trousers. Much more comfortable than the brogues I was wearing pre lockdown!
